Liberating Yara from Anton Castillo in Far Cry 6 isn’t easy. Clara assigns Dani to recruit three different factions in Yara’s main regions, but not everyone is on board. Players that started in the El Este region will soon have to undergo the operation “Pics or It Didn’t Happen” to convince one of Yara’s Legends to fight with Libertad.
Far Cry 6 is a game that blends action and stealth, and this operation definitely requires a bit of sneaking around. In short, Dani must go to BioVida facility and take pictures of what Castillo’s army is doing to the Paria. Note that this mission is unavailable until the player has completed the previous operations “Meet the Legends” and “Take Your Medicine.”
Where to Start?
Upon completing the “Take Your Medicine” Operation, a cutscene will occur between Jonron, and the residents on Patriotas Peak camp. While characters like El Tigre are willing to fight with La Moral, others such as Lorenzo and Lucky Mama will need more convincing.
To start “Pics or It Didn’t Happen”, speak to El Tigre. He believes Lorenzo just needs some physical proof from the facility, so that’s exactly what Dani needs to do next.
Far Cry 6 will give a tutorial on how to take photos. Simply press up on the D-pad (or X if on computer) to pull out the camera. Then click R1/RB (left-click on computer) to take a photo. This is not the same as Photo-Mode in the menu.
Mark the quest and head towards the objective marker on the map. Players can either walk or use a vehicle. However, there’s an Anti Aircraft Canon nearby, so unless players have already destroyed it, they won’t be able to Air Drop or fly in.
Weapons, Amigos, & Strategy
Depending on which method the player prefers, they can either charge in using brute force, or they can go stealth. Since this isn’t an FND Base and there aren’t any people that need rescuing, players won’t have to worry about NPCs getting caught in the crossfire. However, as an Operation quest, there are going to be plenty of guards to keep Dani on their toes.
For stealth, start by scanning the area to track enemies, alarms, and cameras. It’s easier to go around the outside perimeter and take out guards one-by-one. Go for headshots and use/equip the following:
- Sniper Rifles (ex: Yaran SR-A)
- * Supercharger
- American/Russian Suppressor
- 4-8x Scope, or any Scope that allows Hold Breath
- Equip the right rounds (i.e: Armor-Piercing, Soft-Target…)
The Supercharger shotgun is located on the GDP Oil Platform, which is all the way at the upper left corner of the map. If players aren’t doing sidequests, there’s a good chance they won’t have this weapon by the time they do “Pics or It Didn’t Happen.” However, this is a very powerful, close-range weapon that also comes with a suppressor. If players don’t have it now, they should consider liberating the Oil Platform and finding Supercharger at some point
For rifles, players will want to equip them with Suppressors and Scopes to make headshots easier. Both the American and Russian Suppressor will greatly reduce noise but overheat quickly. Suppressors that greatly reduce noise and overheat slowly can be unlocked with 3 Gunpowder, so upgrade wisely.
For Amigos, players can bring Oluso for stealth kills, Chorizo for distracting enemies, or Boom Boom for tagging. If players choose to go stealth in the BioVida Facility, they can use this opportunity to build up their Amigo Perks/Abilities.
For charging in, players only need to bring guns with high RPF (Rate per fire), RPG-7, or explosives such as grenades. The Tostada flamethrower is also recommended for some literal firepower.
While some Far Cry 6’s weapons are better than others, the goal for not going stealthily is to get rid of all the enemies as quickly as possible before they call for backup. Bring Amigos like Guapo or Chicharron. Guopo may be preferred because of the unique ability that revives him upon defeat.
The First Photo
Note: Once the player reaches the facility, the objective marker will show where to go on the minimap and on the main screen. Photos can be taken in any order so long as Dani manages to get enough photographic evidence.
At the edge of the facility is a lake with two guards standing over a dead body. Take both of these guards out via sniping, fatal takedowns, or however. Dani will comment on something in the water, and if players look closely, they’ll see a red poison clouding below the surface. Enter the nearby white building and turn the orange valve. This will drain the water and reveal a pile of dead bodies. Take out the camera and take the first picture.
The Second Photo
Opposite the lake, to the west side of the map, is a caged area. There are guards here, so if going stealth, take caution. Dani doesn’t need to read the notes on each door; just take pictures of the prisoners.
With this completed, there’s one last place to check out.
The Third Photo
Assuming the player hasn’t received it from killing Dr. Pedrosa, go to building/room B-02 and grab the keycard. B-02 is located at the south part of the map. With the keycard, players should be able to enter the central building. Once inside, climb the stairs and take pictures of the experiments through the glass ceiling.
Dani will contact El Tigre when they’ve gathered enough evidence. Get away from the facility and Fast Travel back to the Guerrilla Camp to turn in the quest. Finishing the “Pics or It Didn’t Happen” operation will open up Yaran Stories from Lorenzo (ex: “Seeds of Love” sidequest). However, those that aren’t interested in the Yaran Stories can complete Jonron’s operations to advance the story.
Far Cry 6 is available on Amazon Luna, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
