The recently-released Vaas: Insanity DLC is the first part of the seasonal pass for Far Cry 6. Gamers are able to play as the franchise’s beloved villains, from Vaas Montenegro to Pagan Min to Joseph Seed. Unlike Dani Rojas’ adventures, Vaas’ gameplay is more roguelike and, for some, a bit more challenging.
In Far Cry 6, players were able to upgrade their weapons by using the Workbench. Resources for upgrades could be found in Ambushes or looted from FND caches. In Vaas: Insanity, new weapons and Mirror Traits are instead upgraded by paying in Cash. As this can be limited, players will want to strategize on how they spend their money. There are plenty of useful perks that players will want to sort through before buying.
About Mirror Skills
At the beginning of the DLC, Vaas isn’t going to be very durable. To remedy this, players are expected to use Cash to unlock Mirror Skills, which are permanent traits that can increase HP or give Vaas access to Takedown bonuses. Mirror Skills/Traits are similar to Perks in Far Cry 5. There are five categories: Pride, Wrath, Greed, Sloth, and Envy. Buying one Skill in one Trait Category opens up the next available Skill and so forth.
- Pride Traits: Skills bought in this category will give Vaas HP benefits.
- Wrath Traits: Skills that give benefits after a successful Takedown, allow Vaas to do Takedowns on alerted enemies, or perform Takedown Chains.
- Greed Traits: Vaas will hold onto cash after dying.
- Sloth Traits: Improve movement speed, healing, and exploration.
- Envy Traits: Add extra gadget sockets.
Which Traits To Buy
While some perks are more useful than others, it ultimately comes down to the player’s preference. However, definite Must-Haves are the Sloth, Wrath, and Envy Traits. If playing on a lower difficulty, players can unlock the first 2 Greed Traits and should still have enough Cash for the perks they need.
Players who beat Vaas: Insanity can lay it on a higher difficulty. With stronger enemies to fight, it’s recommended to build up the Pride, Wrath, and Envy Traits. It’s not a bad idea to buy the first Skill in the Sloth Trait. Prioritize Greed Traits too since Vaas will lose some items if he’s defeated thanks to Vaas: Insanity’s roguelike gameplay.
If low on Cash, players can gain more by looting enemies or opening chests. When an enemy is defeated, players are given Powers, which are temporary buffs that can be sold at the Safe House. Any unwanted weapons can be sold as well.
Far Cry 6 is available now on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Stadia, and Luna.
