Fast & Furious Tops Hobbs & Shaw’s Supersuits

Fast & Furious Spy Racers season 4 introduces new supersuits that top what Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw did. The series began to expand beyond the main franchise in recent years with multiple Fast & Furious spinoff movies. The first came with Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham returning as Hobbs and Shaw for a live-action team-up movie. It wasn’t long before Netflix and DreamWorks released the first season of Fast & Furious Spy Racers, which revolves around a group of racers led by Dominic Toretto’s younger cousin, Tony.

Despite being set in the same universe, it is fair to say that Fast & Furious Spy Racers has mostly stood on its own. Vin Diesel voiced Dom for two episodes in the first season, but the lack of crossover hasn’t prevented the show from evolving the franchise. There are other connections to the movies as the tech-savvy Spy Racers team goes on missions to save the world. This often includes the latest gadgets and technology, such as drones, invisible cars, and digital clones. The advancements continued with Fast & Furious Spy Racers season 4, and it outdid Hobbs & Shaw in the process.

The plot of Fast & Furious Spy Racers season 4 follows Tony’s team and Ms. Knowhere as they try to clear their names after they are framed for a crime. This brings them to Moray, a tech engineer genius who wants to trigger a massive natural disaster. Moray and his goons pose quite the threat to Tony and his team due to their advanced suits. They have supersuits that can turn invisible, project a protective force field, withstand the heat of lava, and much more. The introduction of Moray’s supersuits and the Phantoms comes on the heels of Hobbs & Shaw introducing exoskeletons to the universe, but they look obsolete now thanks to Spy Racers.

Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw introduced Brixton (Idris Elba) as an advanced super-soldier. Brixton’s supersuit is infused with his body through cybernetic implants by the mysterious organization Eteon. He’s given a variety of new abilities through his exoskeleton, including super strength and ocular implants. Brixton had the power of a nearly unbeatable soldier at this time and appeared to be the best the Fast & Furious had to offer when it came to technologically advanced people. After what Fast & Furious Spy Racers did with its supersuits, there’s no question that the Phantoms top Brixton.

Although Fast & Furious Spy Racers doesn’t make any reference to Brixton, Eteon, or the events of Hobbs & Shaw, is there a chance they are connected? Moray could be secretly working with Eteon and used his expertise with technology to build upon what the company did before. Only time will tell if such a connection is made in Fast & Furious Spy Racers season 5, but hopefully this won’t be the last time these supersuits appear in the franchise.
