The director of Final Fantasy XIV, Naoki Yoshida, has joined Twitch with a brand new cooking show, which features him baking cookies, drinking wine, and playing his MMORPG online. This stream was an all-new look at the game director’s personal life and home, as well as his personal taste in wine.

Under publisher Square Enix, Final Fantasy 14 is directed and produced by Yoshida himself, and he’s widely viewed as the game’s savior after an initial disastrous launch. He previously worked on a number of Dragon Quest titles and continues to work on Final Fantasy 14 eight years after the MMORPG released, including all of the big expansions and updates over the years. Now Yoshida has been picked by Square Enix to handle the next Final Fantasy title, Final Fantasy XVI, which he’s currently working on as a producer alongside director Hiroshi Takai.

The FF14 director recently used the NGC_the_Twitch Twitch channel to stream himself live online, welcoming an audience into his home and his oven. During the stream, the Japanese director spent over an hour baking cookies from scratch in a themed Final Fantasy 14 black mage apron and drinking a 2018 Napa Valley red wine. He spent over seven hours live streaming in total, playing FF14’s Unreal Titan challenge and answering fans’ questions from the chat. The cookie recipe Yoshida made during the steam has been translated by Twitter user Aitaikimochi, who posted the English recipe online. During the stream, Yoshida commented that his choice of wine, the 2018 Napa Valley red wine, goes very well with these cookies. Now that the recipe is available, fans will be able to determine this for themselves.

DO YOU WANT TO BAKE LIKE YOSHI-P? Here’s his (famous?) coffee cookie recipe that he baked live on Twitch lol ☕️ I translated the recipe so you can try it out too! It apparently pairs well with a glass of wine??🍷🍪 Anyway uh, enjoy! 🍪🍪 pic.twitter.com/Z8icH7n1XO

Yoshida was joined by some of his friends from Free Compay in the stream, playing the Unreal Titan trail together a few times. While together as a team they struggled to beat the trail, which retells the classic encounter between the Warrior of Light and the Titan, they eventually prevailed and earned access to the Faux Hollows. Yoshida showed off his gaming skills in the game he directed and produced but also struggled against many of the same elements players in Final Fantasy 14 often have difficulty with.

While fans were able to see more of Yoshida’s home life and gaming style, no news on the current development of Final Fantasy 16 was revealed during his long stream. Fans of the series will just have to wait and see if Yoshida will be streaming again and if he is willing to discuss the game’s development. In the meantime, a beta for Final Fantasy 14 on PS5 is coming in April.
