Final Fantasy 16 Every Summon Confirmed So Far

The announcement trailer for Final Fantasy 16 didn’t reveal a whole lot, but it did reveal a bit about the world’s lore and history. As in Final Fantasy 14, eikons appear as primal gods who resemble the summons in other Final Fantasy games. Although developers at Square Enix haven’t given much away, based on the trailer for Final Fantasy 16, there are a few eikons confirmed for the game already.

Summons have been an integral part of the Final Fantasy franchise for over three decades. The way they function, as well as which ones appear, have changed from entry to entry, however. Final Fantasy 16 marks a return to high fantasy for the series, which means the trailer shows off a more medieval setting and characters. That also means some iconic summons from Final Fantasy appear.

The trailer opens with one of the characters mentioning eikons and Shiva, an ice summon that’s appeared in almost every Final Fantasy game, coming into view. Almost instantly, Shiva is shown in her full form and sends shards of ice at another recognizable Final Fantasy summon: Titan. It’s unclear if Shiva is using her signature move Diamond Dust in the trailer, but FF16 is clearly teasing some epic battles between eikons.

All The Eikons In Final Fantasy 16’s Trailer

The second summon, Titan, appears to look more like his Final Fantasy XV iteration in the FF16 trailer than the typical way he’s portrayed in games like Final Fantasy 7 and FF14. The eikon is seen rising from the earth to do battle with Shiva, although the trailer cuts away before showing much of the action.

Later in the trailer, Phoenix is shown rising from flames and into the night sky. Although not as commonly used in Final Fantasy titles as summons like Shiva and Ifrit (both of whom recently were used in Final Fantasy 7 Remake), Phoenix has been featured in a lot of Final Fantasy titles over the years. Soon after Phoenix is shown, fans also get their first glimpse at Ifrit in Final Fantasy 16, as the two eikons appear to be getting ready for a huge fight.

In several instances of the Final Fantasy XVI trailer, it appears that the protagonist is using moves related to eikons in combat. There are quite a few moments that seem in to indicate he’s calling on Phoenix for power, as the summon’s red wings are shown sprouting from his shoulders. Because of this, some eagle-eyed fans have noticed what appears to be bird-like claws in one of FF16’s combat sequences between the protagonist and a troll. Fans have speculated this could be Valefor or Garuda, both bird-like summons that are common in Final Fantasy; however, the eikon itself is not shown. Currently, the full list of revealed summons looks like this:

For now, those are all the eikons that have been revealed in Final Fantasy 16. At this point, it’s still unknown how exactly the summons will function, and to what extent players will be able to use them in battle. However, because Ifrit, Shiva, Titan, and Phoenix all appear in the trailer, it’s a pretty sure bet they’ll all show up in the actual game too.
