Daphne and Niles were perhaps the golden couple on Frasier, despite the fact that they didn’t actually get together until the show’s seventh season. Nonetheless, whether they were in a relationship or still just friends, the pair shared some undeniably romantic and beautiful moments.

Niles’s infatuation with Daphne began the moment he met her, and thus got him tongue-tied around her most of the time, while she remained oblivious. However, in the moments they shared, together or not, their chemistry was unmatched and thus, cemented them as one of the best couples on the show.

When They Danced The Tango

In one of Daphne and Niles’s most iconic scenes in the whole show, the pair are ironically not even together. “Moon Dance” sees Niles’s crush on Daphne scale to fully-fledged infatuation, as Daphne teaches him how to dance, which leads to the two attending an event together and performing the tango.

Intending to make the people in Niles’s social circle jealous, the pair dance the tango in a seductive and over-the-top fashion, prompting Niles to tell Daphne how much he adores her. Daphne, still thinking they’re in the act, reciprocates his words. While Niles leaves the moment heartbroken that Daphne was just acting, it is a staple in their early relationship that proved how much chemistry they shared, and what they could be without any outside interference.

When They Cooked And Sang Together

Another great moment between the pair came in one of the best episodes of the fifth season, “First Date,” and hinted at the potential of their relationship. Daphne agrees to help Niles prepare dinner for a woman he is supposedly in love with after Daphne overhears a conversation between him and Frasier about his love for Daphne. Too scared to tell her the truth, Niles lies and makes up a woman instead.

However, the best part of the episode comes when the two are cooking together, and they find joy in even a simple domestic task, singing the overtly romantic song “Heart and Soul.” The moment is often flashbacked to later on in the show, and it’s because it was one of the first times that Niles relaxed around Daphne and could have fun, resulting in this purely sweet scene.

When Niles Couldn’t Find A Single Flaw

Despite Niles being one of the most intelligent characters on the show, when it came to Daphne, he always seemed a little blindsided. “Daphne Returns” shows Niles and Daphne falling out, as she believes that she developed a problem with over-eating because she was scared she would never live up to Niles’s expectation of her.

However, when talking the situation through with Frasier, Niles asks him: “Has it ever occurred to you that maybe Daphne just is perfect?” Even when the two are arguing, Niles still cannot comprehend that Daphne has any flaws. Despite the problems that Niles’s perception of Daphne caused, it’s a sweet moment of vulnerability for Niles’s character and shows how much he adores Daphne.

When They Found Out They Were Having A Baby

“No Sex Please, We’re Skittish” saw Daphne and Niles talking about trying for a baby, and Niles gets disheartened when he learns that he has low motility, so they may not be able to conceive. The sadness is quickly resolved when Niles realizes that Daphne has handed up a positive pregnancy test, not an ovulation one.

Seeing the pair find out that they’re having a baby in such an intimate way truly sweet, and watching as they come to terms with the joyful news and embrace each other really showed that all they had been through was worth it in the end.

When They Finally Got A Moment Alone

The start of Daphne and Niles’s relationship was nothing short of turbulent, with Niles’s still-wife Mel demanding they keep up their charade of a marriage, despite him having left her for Daphne. Throughout the two-part episode “And The Dish Ran Away With Spoon,” Niles constantly has to let Daphne down in order to keep up appearances with Mel and get a divorce granted more quickly.

In a sweet gesture, Frasier saves the day by surprising the pair with a candle-lit dinner on the rooftop of the building. The moment allowed Daphne and Niles to accept that their relationship wasn’t going to be easy, but they had so much reason to fight. It’s a romantic scene, and fans really get the feeling that they’re witnessing the start of something special.

When Niles Proposed

Niles planned to propose to Daphne in an extravagant way, but, like many of the milestones in their relationship, his plans went awry after Daphne fell ill with the flu. “The Proposal” sees Niles plan all sorts of over-the-top romantic gestures that he has to call off, deciding to delay asking Daphne to marry him until she feels better.

However, in a truly romantic turn of events, Niles can’t seem to stop himself from proposing. He realizes that he never needed all of the fanfare, as it would always be the ‘right’ moment because it’s Daphne. He asks her to marry him and she joyfully accepts, proving that all they really need is each other and securing their status as one of the most loved couples on the show.

When Niles Tries To Get Daphne’s Parents Back Together

In “Moons Over Seattle,” Niles travels all the way to England to try and convince Daphne’s father, Harry, to come with him back to America and reunite with Daphne’s mother. The whole episode is chaotic, as Daphne becomes upset with Niles that he didn’t consult her first, and her parents do nothing but bicker relentlessly.

Whilst Niles’s attempts to reconcile Daphne’s parents aren’t received well, it does lead to Daphne’s father telling her lucky she is to have a man who would even try to do something like that. This prompts Daphne to apologize to Niles, and in a truly romantic gesture, she declares that she wants to marry him straight away, as she cannot bear another minute of not being his wife.

When They Comforted Each Other

Before they even were together, Daphne and Niles shared some memorable moments that hinted at what a great couple they would eventually go on to be. The sixth episode of season four, “Mixed Doubles,” proved this, as the two find themselves at a bar together after the two people that had been seeing got together behind their backs.

Despite the solemn mood, the two share a romantic moment when they pretend to be strangers on a first date. Niles, probably not still in their make-believe scenario, says to Daphne: “and then I would say… What are you doing for the rest of your life?” The moment is weighted, as fans know the depth of Niles’s feelings, but it was also one of the first insights into what their relationship would look like.

When Daphne Left Donny To Be With Niles

The episode “Something Borrowed, Something Blue” saw Daphne and Niles finally get together, after many seasons of Niles’s pining after her and Daphne none the wiser. In one of Daphne’s best quotes, she asks Niles if might be free for a date whilst standing in her wedding dress, having just left Donny at the altar.

It was a long-awaited moment for fans, and it didn’t disappoint. The two are giddy at the thought of being together, and cannot wait to get away and start their new lives together. It also is one of the first times that Daphne feels comfortable enough to call Niles by his first name, which makes the moment even more intimate as the two gaze at one another with adoration.

When They Nearly Got Married Three Times

In true Daphne and Niles style, their wedding is just as chaotic as the day they got together. Desperate to get hitched, they run off to Reno to get married in “The Ring Cycle,” not wanting to spend another moment not married. The two are over the moon until they get home and realize that all of their friends and family are upset at even the idea of them eloping.

Thus, chaos ensues as Daphne and Niles have to pretend to everyone (bar Roz), that they’re not already wed in an effort to spare their feelings. In a series of bizarre events, Daphne and Niles end up getting married at the courthouse to appease Frasier and Martin, and then almost get married a third time to satisfy Daphne’s mother. Eventually, the pair come clean that they were just too excited, that it was all they could think about, showcasing just how perfect they are for one another.
