The characters in Friends truly are there for everyone. There’s a reason why people constantly come back to stream this show, as one of the greatest comfort series in television history. The main group is all fantastic, and while all of them have distinct flaws, they are also overwhelmingly positive as well.
But it isn’t just the lead characters on the show that are great, as the supporting cast is also a lot of fun, filled with heart and humor. The fans themselves can see something in each character and everyone has a favorite. But who would the fans want to be friends with in real life? Would they like to be having cuddle naps with Joey and playing Ms. Pacman with Chandler, or watching Phoebe play one of her concerts?
10 Chandler Bing
Chandler Bing is absolutely somebody that fans would want to be friends with. The one who brings fantastic sarcasm and wit throughout the show to keep his friends entertained, he would always be fun to be around, which is never a bad thing.
However, while Chandler is funny, he is also intelligent and caring. He knows when it’s time for a laugh and a joke, but he is also aware when things are sensitive. Chandler can be a great shoulder to cry on and somebody to talk to at times, which helps make him a terrific friend.
9 Rachel Green
Rachel is another character from the show fans would love to know. Whether it’s the early version of her character that is a little self-indulgent, yet absolutely hilarious, or the older version that is career-driven and determined to be a great mother, Rachel is a fantastic character.
Rachel is loyal to all of her friends, constantly trying her best to please them and help with any problems that they might have, which is great for anybody. Plus, everyone needs a friend who loves shopping to just indulge with, right?
8 Richard
Richard was a huge fan favorite throughout Friends, and during his relationship with Monica people really wanted to see them stay together. While her eventual marriage to Chandler was amazing, Richard was still one of the greatest romantic partners on the show.
However, while he wasn’t to be for Monica, that doesn’t mean fans wouldn’t want to be friends with Richard. He is someone with a lot of life experience, being able to bring that into any friendship, knowing what is needed and when. Richard can be funny, while also seemingly always knowing the right thing to say at the right time.
7 Jack Geller
Jack Geller is best friends with Richard, and clearly, they’ve both got good taste in people as Jack is a great person as well. He’s another character that fans absolutely loved, mainly because he comes out with some tremendous one-liners that always end up being entertaining.
It’s easy to see why fans would want to be friends with him, mainly because he’s such a kind person. While Judy Geller can be a little cold and harsh at times, that isn’t the case with Jack, which makes him stand out even more, and that is why fans would love to get to know him.
6 Ross Geller
While his father can be quite relaxed, Ross Geller would be a different type of friend due to how passionate he is about everything in his life. Ross is hard working and puts all of his efforts into that, which is a respectable trait, but he’s just as dedicated to his friends and family too.
Ross can be hilarious at times, which makes him easy to like and is one of the main reasons fans would want to be friends with him. Seeing the ridiculous things he gets up to, from his over-the-top spray tan to owning a pet monkey, life is never dull with Ross around.
5 Mike Hannigan
It’s impossible not to love Mike. He brings a great level of joy and excitement to the show from the moment he joins the cast, with his huge energy and positive nature being tons of fun. Fans would all love to be friends with him, mainly because they know that it would be exciting all of the time.
He’s easy to get along with and someone who drops in fun one-liners, but he can also be completely goofy and silly as well. Whether it’s changing his name to Crap Bag or playing an invisible piano like he’s on the main stage of Glastonbury, Mike is the type of friend everybody wants to have.
4 Monica Geller
Sure, Monica Geller can be a little bossy at times, but she’s also the kindest member of the main group and that is why fans would love to get to know her. She is somebody that always goes the extra mile for her friends, from letting them live with her to help them with their romantic problems.
However, Monica also has a competitive edge, which would make being friends with her a lot of fun. She hates losing, no matter what it is, and that is something that fans would likely enjoy, getting to compete with her on different ideas.
3 Carol
Carol was shown less frequently as the series went on, which was a real shame because she’s a hilarious character with a great amount of sass. Carol had no problem firing back at Ross or Susan, coming out with some tremendous one-liners, proving herself to be an excellent character on the show.
As a great mother, Carol is someone who fans respected and found to be a great part of the show. People would love to be friends with her for the free-speaking mentality that she has, with Carol never having a problem giving her opinions.
2 Phoebe Buffay
When it comes to having fun, Phoebe Buffay would be the perfect friend to have. She is a true fan favorite and somebody that audiences love, with her unpredictability helping to make her one of the quirkiest characters on Friends.
This is what helps to make Phoebe so great, as she always brings something new. Phoebe has strong beliefs and she is happy to stand by them and debate them, which is great to see. Plus, she is fantastic at giving advice to try and help others, which is crucial.
1 Joey Tribbiani
Out of all the characters in the show, Joey Tribbiani is the ideal person that fans would want to be friends with. He is someone who brings nothing but positivity to the series, being someone who has a sunny disposition and always looks at the brighter side of life, no matter what is going on.
Joey is a fiercely loyal friend, which is something that everybody wants, and he will always be there to pick people up when they’re down. Throughout the series, Joey proves himself to not just be funny, but also kind and caring, making him the ideal person to be friends with.
