Genshin Impact 13 Everything Developers Are Adding Next (UPDATED)

Version 1.3 of Genshin Impact will be arriving in February, and developers at miHoYo are already sharing some of the changes players can expect to find once the game updates. There are a lot of exciting new features coming to Genshin Impact, bringing some much-needed changes to Resin, and some long-awaited improvements for mobile users. Here’s everything players need to know about what developers are adding into Genshin Impact next.

Genshin Impact is huge on mobile devices, with the game earning $400 million in two months on mobile alone, so it makes sense that miHoYo would want to keep their mobile players happy. Prior to Version 1.3’s arrival, pre-installation will finally come to mobile devices. The ability to pre-load content is great, because it means the game can be accessed much quicker after updates.

Mobile players on iOS devices will finally be able to use controllers in Genshin Impact. Any device using iOS 14 or higher can use Xbox Wireless Controllers, DualShock 4 Wireless Controllers, and other select Bluetooth controllers when playing Genshin Impact on mobile once Version 1.3 is installed. However, the good news isn’t just reserved for mobile players. Some long-awaited new features are coming to all platforms as well.

Genshin Impact 1.3: Original Resin & Material Conversion Updates

Changes are coming to Genshin Impact that will make obtaining Resin easier, while also cutting down on how much Resin players spend. Some Resin changes were already implemented in the game, but they didn’t go nearly far enough. Now, with Genshin Impact Version 1.3, additional Resin rewards will become available and, according to miHoYo, “All events in Version 1.3 that do not require challenging Ley Line Outcrops or Domains will not consume Original Resin.” The developer also stated “The vast majority of large-scale events in future versions will also not consume Original Resin.” Acquiring Resin has a been a major contention in the fandom, because it’s difficult to farm and is used for multiple aspects of in-game content, so hopefully Version 1.3 will alleviate some of these problems. (Update 19/01/21: The phrasing of this paragraph has been adjusted to more accurately reflect Genshin Impact’s resin changes)

The other big change developers are adding into Genshin Impact is material conversion. This new function will go live in Version 1.3, and should give players the ability to finally convert materials themselves. No other details were shared about material conversion yet, but it should make crafting in Genshin Impact much easier. All of these changes join the previously-announced Zhongli buffs and Geo changes that will also be arriving in Version 1.3, which means players can expect all sorts of quality-of-life improvements and new features when the update releases.

miHoYo updates Genshin Impact regularly, but many of these updates focus on adding in new content and playable characters to the game. Based on what’s been shared so far, though, Version 1.3 might just be the biggest improvements update Genshin Impact has received so far.
