As confirmed by Mihoyo in their Teyvat Chapter Storyline Preview, Genshin Impact’s fourth explorable nation will be Sumeru. With the completion of Inazuma’s primary storyline already completed, Sumeru may be just around the corner.

However, Genshin Impact continues to introduce fans to exciting new playable characters from Inazuma. Before leaving Inazuma behind, it is important for fans to figure out which playable Inazuma characters will be the best companions for continuing on their journey.

10 Kujou Sara

While every playable character in Genshin Impact can be useful in their own ways, bow users tend to be less popular than other characters. Unfortunately for Kujou Sara, she is no exception. Kujou Sara certainly isn’t the worst bow user in Genshin Impact, but her stats are simply underwhelming compared to other playable characters from Inazuma. Unless a player is specifically searching for an Electro bow user, there is no real reason to invest in Kujou Sara.

9 Gorou

While all of Genshin Impact’s playable Inazuma characters are relatively new in comparison to characters from Mondstadt or Liyue, Gorou is one of the two newest playable characters to be introduced to the game as of December 14, 2021. Gorou is difficult to compare to other characters, as his use is very specifically tailored to full Geo teams. Players with an overwhelming fondness for their Geo characters may find that Gorou is precisely the Support they needed to build their dream Geo team. However, Gorou is easily outclassed by other Support characters when paired with teammates that use any other element.

8 Thoma

While Thoma is an important story character in Genshin Impact’s second chapter, he was only released as a playable character in November 2021. Many players were excited to see what this 4-star Pyro polearm user would have in store. However, Thoma is one of three different Pyro polearm users, including a 5-star character (Hu Tau) and one of the most popular Pyro characters in the game (Xiangling).

There is nothing necessarily wrong with Thoma, but the only reason he might be more useful than characters like Hu Tau or Xiangling is if players are lacking shield characters.

7 Sayu

While Sayu may not seem immediately impressive in comparison to claymore users like Diluc or Eula, she is a very uniquely useful character for exploration and support. Claymore users are typically thought of as heavy damage dealers, but Sayu offers various tools to heal her teammates and create intense elemental reactions. Outside of combat, Sayu’s Elemental Skill allows her to roll faster than most other characters can sprint, and her Passive Talent allows her to sneak up on wildlife like crystalflies and crabs. These exploration skills make Sayu a great fit for gathering resources and completing exploration quests.

6 Yoimiya

Much like Sayu, Yoimiya seems to shine the brightest in assisting players with exploration and daily tasks. Yoimiya’s ranged Pyro attacks, for example, make hunting and Pyro puzzles almost laughably easy. However, Yoimiya may still be one of the weakest 5-star characters in the game when confronted by multiple enemies. If players can find a good vantage point for fighting against solo enemies, Yoimiya can be a great tool for dealing damage from a distance. However, most bow users in Genshin Impact become difficult to use against more than one enemy. Therefore, Yoimiya’s skills are inherently limited without a team capable of defending her.

5 Sangonomiya Kokomi

Sangonomiya Kokomi is a 5-star Hydro catalyst user from Watatsumi Island. As players might imagine from a 5-star character, Kokomi offers a number of strengths for any party. Kokomi offers extensive healing abilities and is capable of applying Hydro to enemies across a fairly expansive area using her Elemental Skill. However, Kokomi’s Passive Talent, ‘Flawless Strategy,’ creates a 100% decrease in her Crit Rate. Unsurprisingly, this limiting factor on Kokomi’s damage-dealing potential does not go unnoticed. So long as players have other damage-dealing characters, Kokomi’s healing abilities may be worth the trade.

4 Arataki Itto

Arataki Itto is the 5-star character accompanying Gorou on Genshin Impact’s most recently released Character Event Banner, ‘Oni’s Royale.’ Itto is a Geo claymore user, and players looking for a Main DPS should be eager to pull for this surprisingly kind-hearted demon.

Much like Gorou, Arataki Itto would certainly benefit from being part of a full Geo team. However, Itto’s ability to deal damage is still very impressive in more varied team compositions. Really, the only reason players may want to avoid Itto is if they have a strong aversion to the playstyle of claymore users in general.

3 Raiden Shogun

Frankly, the main reason that Raiden Shogun isn’t a completely overpowered playable character is the fact that she is an Electro character. Unfortunately, Electro characters in Genshin Impact are known to be weaker than any other elemental characters that players have seen thus far. Considering this one drawback, Raiden Shogun is still an impressive character, well-deserving of her 5-star status. Players looking for a powerful Main or Sub-DPS also capable of regenerating Elemental Energy for the entire team can certainly utilize Raiden Shogun to their advantage. However, players looking for a new pro chef should steer clear of this character, as she is entirely incapable of cooking.

2 Kamisato Ayaka

Genshin Impact Every Playable Inazuma Character Ranked

Kamisato Ayaka is potentially one of the most coveted characters in Genshin Impact. This 5-star Cryo sword user is an incredible Sub-DPS and offers a unique sprint that makes her particularly useful for exploration. Ayaka’s base Crit Rate is higher than most other characters, and she offers an incredibly hard-hitting Elemental Burst. While Ayaka is a great choice in combat, her sprint ability is particularly intriguing. Ayaka’s sprint cloaks her in fog, making her temporarily invisible to enemies. This sprint ability also allows Ayaka to effectively walk on water and adds Cryo to her normal attacks after emerging from her sprint.

1 Kaedehara Kazuha

Aside from being the most useful playable Inazuma character fans have seen so far, Kaedehara Kazuha may simply be one of the strongest playable Genshin Impact characters in general. While Kazuha may not deal the same amount of damage as characters like Itto or Raiden Shogun, his ability to create and maintain elemental reactions is nearly unmatched. Kazuha’s Elemental Burst essentially sends out an AoE Swirl reaction chamber. The continuous Swirl damage inflicted by Kazuha’s Elemental Burst combined with Kazuha’s Elemental Skill which can pull multiple enemies into one spot creates a perfect setup for other characters to tear through large groups of enemies. Basically, Kazuha is the perfect character to help any of a player’s favorite characters truly shine.
