Genshin Impact Is Masterless Starglitter or Stardust Better

As a gacha game, Genshin Impact has multiple forms of currency for all its transactions. While most are farmed in-game, two currencies accumulate from Wishes: Masterless Starglitter and Masterless Stardust. Although Masterless Starglitter is undoubtedly rarer, Masterless Stardust has a better practical value.

Both rare currencies buy a variety of items in Paimon’s Bargains, an in-game shop. With Genshin Impact’s Masterless Starglitter, players can purchase monthly rotating characters and weapons, rare Ascension materials, and Intertwined and Acquaint Fates. The other currency, Masterless Stardust, offers Adventure Experience, Mystic Enchantment Ores, Mora, ascension materials, and both Fates too.

Making more Wishes in Genshin Impact and receiving duplicates is the only way to accrue these currencies. Masterless Starglitter is a reward for double 4- and 5-Star character and weapon pulls, and the amount earned increases if the character won has a completed Constellation. So, a 4-Star character will result in 2 or 5 Masterless Starglitter. A duplicate 5-Star character will pull 10 or 25 Starglitter. And, a 4 or 5- Star weapon will earn 2 or 10 Starglitter, respectfully. Otherwise, if a duplicate 3-Star weapon gets pulled, users will collect 15 Masterless Stardust instead.

Genshin Impact: Why Masterless Stardust Has Better Practical Value

Because Masterless Starglitter is hard to obtain, it becomes less practical than Stardust. To even guarantee a 4-Star pull or higher, players have to make 10 Wishes. And even then, pulling the same weapon or character is not guaranteed. Genshin Impact’s Banner Wish rates are low with a 0.6% chance for 5-Star characters, 0.7% for 5-Star weapons, 5% for 4-Star characters, and 6% for 4-Star weapons. While 4-Star pulls are slightly higher odds, it proves just how unlikely it is to win 5-Star items, let alone a duplicate. Therefore, it is wise to save up Masterless Starglitter for the sole purpose of buying characters and weapons only. With characters costing 34 Starglitter, weapons costing 24, and the high likelihood of only earning 2 Starglitter per duplication, Starglitter must be used sparingly.

On the contrary, Genshin Impact’s Masterless Stardust accrues at a much higher rate and doesn’t need to be conserved. Players can use Stardust to buy the monthly allowance of Fates at a more realistic rate and still have some to spare. While the level-up material offered in-store is farmable, it helps to have extra spendable Stardust to ease grinding for materials. The materials buyable with Stardust can also be crafted into the uncommon materials Starglitter offers. Players are also likely to need Experience, Mora, and Enchantment Ores more commonly than characters and weapons, meaning Stardust’s uses are more practical to gameplay in Genshin Impact.

While Starglitter and Stardust are different, each serves the purpose of supporting player advancement. Due to their rarity, both are great to collect. However, analyzing Masterless items with a practical mindset, Stardust offers players more support consistently. This means Masterless Stardust has more necessary use, making it the better currency in Genshin Impact.
