As Genshin Impact players explore the world of Teyvat, they are bound to accumulate a large number of material drops from the various monsters they encounter. While some of these materials may prove useful in upgrading weapons and characters, a large portion of these materials is likely to go unused. With the introduction of the Parametric Transformer, Genshin Impact players are able to take any unused material in their inventory and convert it into a variety of rewards.

To unlock the Parametric Transformer, players must first complete the Tianqiu Treasure Trail quest that can be obtained from the Adventurers’ Guild in Liyue Harbor. The quest is relatively short and will reward players with 3 Exquisite Chest spawns in addition to the Parametric Transformer.

When inputting items into the Parametric Transformer, players will notice a quality bar that has a maximum quality rating of 150. Depending on the number of items that players input into the gadget, and the quality of the item, the bar will increase accordingly.

Items that can be converted via the Transformer include all enemy drops, mining materials, flowers, and even vegetables. While it may be tempting to input items that significantly increase the quality bar, items of high value should be avoided as there is no difference in output from 150 common items or 50 rare items.

Items that players should consider using include; Arrowheads, Horns, Insignias, Bone Shards, Ley Line Sprouts, Scrolls, and even Slime Condensate. When players have completed inputting their items, they must then activate the Parametric Transformer by using any elemental skill/bursts on the device. During this phase a percent will be shown on top of the device, allowing players to see how much more elemental energy needs to be added to the device before reaching 100%.

Players should note that unlike other devices in Genshin Impact, the Parametric Transformer has a 7-day cooldown. While this may be a disadvantage for players who have been hoarding their materials for a long time, this effectively allows players to replenish their material stocks through exploration and daily commissions during the week.

It is important that players only use items that they have an overabundance of, and alternate what items they use on the device on a week to week basis. For example, if one week players decide to input 150 common Hilichurl masks, the next week they should alternate to 150 common arrowheads.

With this method of alternating materials, players should be able to effectively rotate between different materials for at least a month before they end up having to repeat a particular item in their inventory. While this may not seem like a long time for some players, it provides an opportunity to actively complete all of the daily quests and commissions to build up more than enough materials throughout the four-week period.

Genshin Impact is available for Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5, with a Switch version in development.
