Geoff Johns Promoted to President of DC Entertainment

After the release of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, Warner Bros. made quite a few changes in their managerial department including bringing on DC’s golden-boy Geoff Johns to assist with all DCEU films. This reorganization led fans to believe that Johns was being brought in to save the day alongside of Warner Bros. Studios’ Jon Berg. Considered to be a smart move by the studio, most fans are now looking forward to a promising future of DC Films.

The news came earlier today, as a report suggested that in addition to his role as CCO Johns had also been promoted to President of DC Entertainment as well, which would explain the different tone we saw in both the Wonder Woman and Justice League comic-con trailers.

According to Bleeding Cool, the promotion happened quite a while ago, but it is just now beginning to circulate outside of DC:

“Apparently, this promotion happened a few months ago when his responsibilities were extended to co-running the DC film slate with Warner Bros studio’s Jon Berg, during the Batman V Superman fallout.

They just didn’t think to tell anyone.

He’s still listed as Chief Creative Officer on DC Comics’ indicia, including comic books out tomorrow.

You can see the current movie direction for Justice League and Wonder Woman as seen at San Diego Comic-Con as directly down to Geoff Johns, and his promotion from a mere CCO to P&CCO reflects this.”

Later, despite not getting a comment from DC Entertainment on the matter, Heroic Hollywood reports to have confirmed the above news to be true via their own personal sources.

“Although DC Entertainment declined to comment for this story when pressed, I was able to confirm the promotion through my own sourcing and it is indeed true!

Geoff Johns is not only Chief Creative Officer of DC Entertainment but President as well.”

With Johns gaining more creative control over the upcoming DC films, he’s being put on more projects as well. He is already working on Ben Affleck’s standalone Batman film, has helped with the Wonder Woman screenplay, and co-wrote Aquaman with Allan Heinberg. Only time will tell what else Johns has in store for DC Films. At least we know the future of our superheroes is in good hands.

Suicide Squad is scheduled to arrive in theaters on August 5, 2016; Wonder Woman is slated for release on June 2, 2017; followed by Justice League on November 17, 2017; Aquaman on July 27, 2018; an untitled DC Film on October 5, 2018; Shazam on April 5, 2019; Justice League 2 on June 14, 2019; an untitled DC film on November 1, 2019; Cyborg on April 3, 2020; and Green Lantern Corps on July 24, 2020. The Flash is currently without a release date.
