Netflix’s latest home improvement series Get Organized With The Home Edit follows the business partnership of Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin, two women who have become a household name in the home and lifestyle industry. The eight-episode season shadows the duo as they edit and organize the homes (or rooms) of celebrities and civilians with color-coding, acrylic storage, and handwritten labels. The Home Edit is primarily a business, but has expanded to include nationwide franchises, a home goods line, and a New York Times best-selling book entitled The Home Edit: A Guide to Organizing and Realizing Your House Goals.

After founding the company in 2015, the partners grew it into the juggernaut it is now solely through social media, attracting the interests of A-list names like Gwyneth Paltrow. The Netflix series is executive produced by Reese Witherspoon, another long-time fan of the company. Witherspoon previously teamed up with Clea and Joanna to produce a similar show in 2018 called Master the Mess. The series only lasted one season, so this new Netflix deal is their second chance at becoming a staple in the home and lifestyle TV scene.

Clea Shearer is a California native who relocated to Nashville a few years back for her professional photographer husband John Shearer, according to House Beautiful. John and Clea have two young children, Sutton Gray and Stella Blue. Once in Nashville, Clea connected with Joanna, ironically another California girl whose husband’s work moved her east. Joanna also has two kids, Miles Reid and Marlowe Aerin. Clea and Joanna connected over their obsession with organization and decided to start their business, The Home Edit, four hours after meeting. Not all friends are destined to go into business together, especially after a few hours of meeting. But Clea and Joanna found they had too much chemistry and shared goals to not at least give it a go. Both founders love finding new ways to declutter and organize, prioritizing cuteness just as much as function. They are both known to have an insatiable sense of humor and treasure the empowerment of women and other disadvantaged communities. With over 1.7 million followers, the women use their platform to not only promote themselves, but also support social movements such as Black Lives Matter.

Although their company has grown exponentially, they both take time to be working moms, supporting each other through the parenting journey as any best friend should. In Get Organized With The Home Edit, audiences are given a glimpse not only into their celebrity clientele, but also their enviable friendship and occasional tidbits about their adorable families.
