Ghost of Tsushima Where to Find Black and White Dye Merchants

As players dig deeper into Ghost of Tsushima’s world, not only does its beauty continue to awe, but the secrets buried on the island are slowly being revealed. While the search for crafting items in Ghost of Tsushima is relatively straight forward, certain dyes are proving to be a bit more challenging to find.

Ghost of Tsushima’s crafting system isn’t a convoluted system to navigate, with the game focusing on a few key upgrades and aesthetics that can tweak the experience just enough. With that said, finding some of the specific dyes can be a challenge and require some detective work to uncover, much like the Long Bow quest in Hiyoshi Springs. The dyes aren’t essential to completing the game, but not being able to track down the elusive white & black dyes would be frustrating for a player going for a certain look for their character.

White Dye Merchant

Located to the west of the Wanderer’s Pass in the Izuhara region, the White Dye Merchant is accessible from the start of Act 1, but it is a bit of a journey to reach him. Up on a small mountain in the northern part of Izuhara, the merchant is accessible via paved roads from the west, or a more challenging climb up the mountain from the east. At the top of the small mountain is a tower with white fabric hanging around it, this is the White Dye Merchant’s shop. He will sell crisp, white colorways for these items:

Longbow — Nine-Tailed Fox — 5 flowers

Gosaku’s Armor — Island Bulwark — 10 flowers

Pure Intent Headband — 20 flowers

Black Dye Merchant

The Black Dye Merchant is found further along in the game, slightly southwest of Urashima’s village, in the easternmost reaches of the Toyotama region. Unlike the White Dye Merchant, who stands bathed in sun atop a mountain, the Black Dye Merchant has set up shop in a cave tucked into a bamboo thicket. The merchant displays his black fabric offerings outside the cave, and inside he will sell you some sleek, black colorways for these items:

Half Bow — Piercing Shadows — 5 flowers

Tadayori’s Armor — Hunter at Dusk — 10 flowers

Traveler’s Attire — Journey Into Night — 10 flowers

Sakai Clan Armor — Lord of Night — 10 flowers

Gosaku’s Armor — Unwavering Mountain — 10 flowers

Ghost Armor — Shadow of Justice — 10 flowers

Kensei Armor — Kensei Armor — 10 flowers

While these two merchants are a little harder to find, players should be able to locate their shops if they methodically make their way across the island of Tsushima. Unlike the quest for the Sly Cooper gear, finding the merchant is the only difficult part of this, as players can fast travel back to get new threads in an instant.

Changing up Jin’s look doesn’t necessarily do anything for his stats, but it allows the player to make the hero look good as he slices and dices through Mongol forces. This is in contrast to something like Steel, one of the weapon crafting items that does impact Jin’s strength. Finding unlimited Steel in Ghost of Tsushima is a big help for players looking to boost that attack stat.

The Black and White Dye Merchants may be tricky to find, but their work makes for some of the coolest looks in the game.
