For WWE’s NXT Halloween Havoc special, Tommaso Ciampa channeled his inner God of War by dressing up as Kratos. Of course, this isn’t the only Kratos-inspired cosplay making the rounds this spooky season. A cosplayer known as thousand_faces_cosplay recently dressed up as the Spartan, then reenacted the scene from God of War (2018) wherein Kratos retrieves his Blades of Chaos for the first time.
As one of the most iconic video game characters to come out of the last 15-plus years, the God of War protagonist remains a popular choice for Halloween costumes and cosplay. It’s a relatively simple look to pull off, though Santa Monica Studio’s decision to forgo Kratos’ classic goatee in favor of a full beard may complicate things in some respect. Still, that hasn’t deterred the likes of Maul_Cosplay from bringing the God of War to life with impeccable detail.
The latest God of War cosplay comes courtesy of NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa, who dressed up like Kratos during last night’s Halloween Havoc event. WWE NXT’s official Twitter page shared a photo of Ciampa in his Kratos garb, in which blue paint adorned him in the style of the red Omega symbol that stains the God of War’s body. Ciampa completed his costume with shoulder armor, hand wraps, and a leather loincloth to match the look Kratos bore in Santa Monica Studio’s 2018 adventure. The get-up ultimately proved a smart choice, too, given that Ciampa retained his title as NXT Champ and reigned supreme during Halloween Havoc.

Ciampa’s overall look matches that of Kratos perfectly, no doubt giving him an edge in the God of War costume department. But his NXT win as Kratos isn’t the only thing worthy of celebration. The PlayStation property has been in the news frequently of late, which started with God of War: Ragnarök’s gameplay reveal during last month’s PlayStation Showcase.
Kratos and Co. recently reentered the conversation courtesy of the 2018’s title’s PC port announcement. God of War will appear on a non-PlayStation platform for the first time in January, with Santa Monica Studio overseeing the project being helmed by Jetpack Interactive.
