Chuck and Blair’s love is the stuff of Gossip Girl legend, but they could get pretty toxic. These are the worst things that Chair did to each other.

When Gossip Girl was on the air, we all swooned over Chuck and Blair’s intense romance and hoped we would one day find a relationship as passionate and exciting as theirs.

Yet as we got older and wiser, we started to come to our senses and realize that these two were not healthy together. In fact, they were kind of awful to one another.

Chuck and Blair had their cute moments, but it wasn’t enough to salvage the fact that they were in a toxic relationship. To prove that these two were not meant to be, here are five of the worst things Chuck did to Blair, and five of the worst things she did to him. (Heads up: It’s not pretty).

10 CHUCK: HE TRADED BLAIR FOR A HOTEL

This is one of the worst things Chuck could do to another person, let alone the love of his life. Chuck’s Uncle Jack makes a deal with him, that if he is willing to give up Blair to him, Chuck can own the hotel he has been after.

He agrees with the deal and sells Blair to his Uncle in order to have ownership over the hotel. He thus treated his girlfriend like an object rather than a human being with feelings and emotions.

9 BLAIR: SHE USED BOYS TO MAKE CHUCK JEALOUS

Blair had a knack for using other men in order to make Chuck jealous. Chuck even said it best when he claimed that Blair would use men as “props” in order to get a reaction out of him. There were several times when she would date a guy just to hurt Chuck’s feelings, and she rarely considered how this would end up destroying the emotions of others.

Often, she would grab either Nate or Prince Louis to make out with whenever Chuck would enter the room in order to make him upset. It was pretty childish of Blair, but he had hurt her so badly that she sometimes just acted out of revenge and it would end up clouding her judgment.

8 CHUCK: HE WAS VERBALLY ABUSIVE

Chuck seems to get a rise out of making Blair feel terrible. He would tell her countless times that he didn’t love her, he would make her feel worthless by telling her she had lost all her value and beauty, and he would insult her regularly for either giving too much or too little.

He even said that it gave him immense pleasure to see her suffer, adding that he wouldn’t stop until she had “nothing”. Total boyfriend material, right? Wrong!

7 BLAIR: SHE PUSHED HIM INTO A RELATIONSHIP HE WASN’T READY FOR

Although we think Blair deserved someone a whole lot better than Chuck, it wasn’t always fair of her to try and constantly push him into a committed relationship that he clearly wasn’t ready for.

They were only in high school at the time, and Chuck had enough self-awareness to know that he wasn’t looking to be monogamous, especially at such a young age.

Yet because Blair wanted it so badly, she pushed him into commitment even though he was clearly on the fence.

6 CHUCK: HE SLEPT WITH BLAIR’S ENEMY TO GET REVENGE ON HER

Jenny Humphrey and Blair Waldorf have never seen eye to eye. In fact, it’s fair to say that they have always had it out for each other. When Chuck got the impression that Blair no longer loved him, he ended up crawling into bed with Jenny where he stole her virginity. Poor Jenny!

He was just using her as an act of revenge towards Blair. When Blair found out about their encounter, Chuck made his girlfriend feel as though it was her fault for his affair with little J.

And the award for biggest scumbag on Gossip Girl goes to… Chuck Bass!

5 BLAIR: SHE JUGGLED NATE AND CHUCK AT THE SAME TIME

At one point, Chuck and Nate were the best of friends. They were inseparable since childhood, but that all was put on hold when they found themselves falling for the same girl. Blair was confused about her feelings and found herself juggling Nate and Chuck at the same time.

Although we don’t blame her for being uncertain about who she wanted, the fact that she knew about the close friendship between Chuck and Nate was a little careless on her part. She knew it would end up destroying their friendship, but she continued to sleep with both of them anyway.

4 CHUCK: HE NEARLY ATTACKED BLAIR AND GOT VIOLENT AROUND HER

When Blair was in a relationship with the prince, Chuck became extremely jealous and possessive of her.

He ended up grabbing her after she told him that she didn’t want him anymore, and he threw her down to the ground while claiming that she belonged to him. He got on top of her and then when she cried for him to stop, he violently punched the glass wall that was behind her. This behavior is simply inexcusable.

3 BLAIR: SHE MADE HIM FEEL ASHAMED FOR LIKING HER

When Chuck told Blair that he was starting to get butterflies in his stomach because of her, she told him that those butterflies needed to be crushed. Whenever they would hook up at the beginning of the series, Blair would constantly imply that it was one big mistake and she acted as though Chuck was in the wrong for catching feelings.

Although she had feelings for him too, she would place Nate on a pedestal and place Chuck on the back burner. She would attempt to push Chuck away as much as possible, and at the beginning of the series, she was almost embarrassed to be associated with him at all.

2 CHUCK: HE SHAMED HER AND PUBLICLY HUMILIATED HER ON GOSSIP GIRL

Chuck needs to learn some better ways to handle rejection, because he tends to hurt others as a form of revenge whenever he doesn’t get what he wants.

When Blair chooses Nate over him, he decides to turn to Gossip Girl where he spills all of Blair’s secrets about her sex life to the worldwide web. He tells everyone her personal business, and this destroys Blair’s reputation. If someone really loves you, they will not try to hurt you as Chuck had with Blair.

1 BLAIR: SHE PRESSURED HIM INTO SAYING THOSE THREE WORDS

Sometimes it’s best to allow your partner to move at their own pace. Even if you want them to spoil you with love and affection, if they are not ready to take the next step in the relationship, you should be able to respect that.

Blair goes out of her way to try and get Chuck to say “I love you”, even though he clearly is not ready to do such a thing. It would be better if she allowed him to move at his own speed and say it when he felt comfortable to do so, rather than because he was pushed into it by Blair.
