Gossip Girl Reboot: The Male Characters’ 10 Best Outfits
The Gossip Girl reboot provided fabulous Gen Z-approved fashion, but from Max to Obie, the men of the show had some of the most dapper outfits of all.

The Gossip Girl reboot was a much-anticipated show, mainly because of the new and updated Gen Z-approved fashion that fans could obsess over. It didn’t disappoint, with luxury brands and fabulous outfits abound on the Gossip Girl reboot, but mostly the women of the show caught the attention of audiences. However, the men had some fabulous ensembles as well.
Akeno, Max, and Obie were best friends, and their status showed in the dapper outfits that they wore. Each of the characters had their own unique styles and aesthetics, which costume designer Eric Daman nailed.
Max’s Lace Shirt
Many found the reboot better than the original Gossip Girl, especially because of its gender-fluid fashion. Max’s lacy Issey Miyake blouse is actually “womenswear” that he styled amazingly for Jordan’s fashion show.
The sheer shirt was unlike anything any male character had worn on the show, and Max let the blouse do all the talking with his signature gold bangle and a signet ring. Muted black pants were the best choice for this beautiful beige shirt.
Aki’s Matching Layers
Akeno and Audrey had been dating for a while, and it was cute whenever they wore similar colors. Aki’s cool skater boy style shows in this layered look, where he paired a blue cargo-style jacket with a tri-colored green, grey, and blue St. Jude’s hoodie.
The loose neutral khaki pants brought the whole look together, as did the matching skateboard. For a boy who didn’t like attracting attention to himself, Aki definitely knew how to jazz up his uniform. This may not make sense in the Gossip Girl reboot, but at least audiences got to enjoy some great fashion.
Obie’s Autumnal Formals
In the show, rich boy Obie was not fond of heavy accessorizing, as he liked to keep things simple and polished. His go-to technique was tone-on-tone clothing, which he did often and very well at Jordan’s grand fashion show.
Under the well-fitted russet-colored suit jacket is a dark brown turtleneck which accentuates the rich fall color of the suit. Obie may not wear big logos or show off his wealth, but everything about this suit screams luxury.
Aki’s Dinner Formals
The quiet character didn’t say much but expressed himself through his style. When going to a dinner with his father and family friends, Akeno turned up in his version of dinner formal, which was a crisp white button-down, buttoned right up to his neck, and a fitted denim jacket over top.
Yet again, hints of Aki’s skater boy chic shone through in this preppy jacket. Nobody else could pull off this “dinner formal” Aki does.
Obie’s New-Age Tuxedo
Obie was nothing if not well-dressed for the high society events where his presence was a must. For the charity gala where he bought Zoya and her dad’s tickets, he turned up in a slick navy blue tux, and as usual, switched out a shirt for a black turtleneck.
The prince of the Upper East Side also had great taste in shoes, and his shiny Chelsea boots finished off the formal outfit really well.
Aki’s Oversized Fit
The king of oversized yet extremely put-together outfits struck again with this look, which is a delightful cocktail of contrasting colors, and subtle motifs.
Aki paired his white school shirt with the striped red uniform tie, a sunny yellow zip-up hoodie over that, and a blue jacket with an inner quilted lining finished the look — most likely part of his uniform as it seems to have a St. Jude’s logo on it.
Max’s Sporty Bowtie Chic
One of the best characters in the Gossip Girl reboot has one of the best wardrobes, hands down. This look shouldn’t work, but it does thanks to Max’s unbridled confidence.
The most eye-catching feature is the forest green sports jacket adorned with vibrant team flags and pennants with cute words on them. Under the jacket lies the best detail: a muted sweater vest, a white shirt, and a red and blue striped bow tie. Game, set, match.
Obie’s Ochre Casuals
The apple of Zoya and Jordan’s eye, Obie’s casual wardrobe wasn’t anything to write home about, but sometimes he nailed the look, especially when it features jewel tones, which the character seems partial to.
His outfit also features layers, but more form-fitting than Aki’s and a lot more minimal than Max’s. The ochre overshirt features a statement corduroy collar, and under that seems to be another cozy corduroy shirt in black with classic faded blue denims. This is a great transitional outfit.
Max’s Schoolboy Attire
Everyone knows that the bad boy of the Gossip Girl reboot wasn’t big into academia — but he sure knew how to dress for it. This Met steps outfit is iconic in more ways than one.
Emulating his predecessor Chuck, he has a red bowtie hanging loose around the collar of his shirt, which is overlaid with a seriously nice cable-knit sweater with argyle neck details, finished off with the signature school chinos. The signet ring on his pinky brings a hint of the real Max into his schoolboy avatar.
Max’s Off-Duty Shirts
Suits and bow ties weren’t the only articles of clothing that comprised Max’s million-dollar closet — it was also full of silky half-sleeved casual shirts with funky prints for every occasion.
He managed to find just the right shirt for his casual daily wear like this floral rose quartz one, or a darker, more evening-appropriate cuboid printed shirt for a wild night out with Jordan.
