While the focus of Grace and Frankie is on the unusual and strong friendship between the two title characters, there are also plenty of romances and romantic scenes. For instance, Sol and Robert (Grace and Frankie’s exes) married after years of being in the closet and loving each other.

Grace and Frankie are rediscovering themselves and their sexual/romantic needs with new romances. But besides them, there are their children, who are all trying to begin new romantic chapters as well. In looking over the six seasons of Grace and Frankie, here are ten most romantic moments and scenes.

10 Grace & Byron: Earthquake Kiss

In the first season, Grace starts dating online, which leads to a couple very awkward dates. At the same time, Frankie has a few ex-convicts at their house, doing art classes. One of them, Byron, is clearly attracted to Grace, and Grace is also attracted to him. After one unsuccessful date, Grace goes to the kitchen where she finds Byron eating a sandwich. The atmosphere is tense.

Thankfully, an earthquake happens and allows them to act on that sexual tension. Byron braces Grace against the wall to protect her, and the two engage in a passionate kiss. While the two didn’t have a relationship, this is what Grace needed to be reminded of–that passion still existed for someone her age, and that she wouldn’t have to settle.

9 Frankie & Jacob: Driving for Frankie

In a social media miscommunication, Jacob thinks that Frankie is dying, literally. Without a thought, he immediately leaves Santa Fe and comes to see her. When it’s cleared up, Jacob realizes how much he cares about Frankie, and he wants to start up their relationship again. Of course, there are complications with this since Frankie started to date Jack.

Still, it’s pretty romantic that Jacob immediately went to see Frankie when he heard that she could be ill.

8 Sol, Robert, & Dorothy (Plus Reggie): Memorial Service

In Season 6, Robert is asked to go to Reggie’s memorial service and to speak at it. He’s a little confused about why he’s being asked. Sol thinks that there was a mix-up, Dorothy meant to ask Robert Henson (who saved Reggie’s life) rather than his Robert Hanson (who was in the Navy with Reggie, but in training). Robert decides to tell Dorothy that she made a mistake, and then a sweet moment happens.

Robert learns that a small act of kindness he did for Reggie (shining Reggie’s shoes so that Reggie wouldn’t have another strike against him), led to Reggie going off-base and meeting Dorothy that weekend. She tells Robert that Reggie always told their kids that story, “You taught us how far a little kindness can go.” Sol adds that it doesn’t surprise him since Robert has been looking after Sol for 30 years, and Robert responds, “Only because I didn’t think you were looking.”

7 Frankie & Jack: Jerry Garcia’s Shoe

Frankie meets Jack at a silent auction. They both are bidding on Jerry Garcia’s shoes. At first, Frankie thinks that Jack is a poser, not a true fan. Then, she learns that he’s even more of a fan than she is, that you can’t judge a book by its cover. Jack wins the silent auction, but he’s so taken with Frankie that he shares his prize.

They both leave with a shoe each, and Jack asks Frankie for a date.

6 Coyote & Jessica: On the Same Page

In Season 6, Coyote is dating Jessica (Bud’s ex). They decide to make sure that they are on the same page. Coyote blurts out, “moving in together,” and Jessica, “marriage.” Then they switch. It’s a cute moment where we can see Coyote finally happy and content in a relationship.

While these two may not be sure if their next step is marriage or moving in together (or both), they are on the same page in that they want something serious.

5 Brianna & Barry: The Costume

Although Brianna isn’t excited about Barry being the sperm donor for his two friends, she agrees to be the runner–carrying the sperm from Barry to his friends. However, there is a comic-con convention happening at the same hotel where they are at, and people bump into Brianna, causing her to spill his sperm.

Barry accuses her of sabotaging it. Brianna shows that she didn’t do it purposefully and is willing to help. To do so, she wears a comic-con costume (something that she’d never do), in order to stimulate his imagination. It works.

4 Bud & Allison: The Prenup

Bud asks Allison to marry him, and she wants to–except she asks for a prenup first. This upsets Bud because he just wants to be with her and not even consider that they may not stay together. Finally, after a conversation with others and some soul searching, he comes back to Allison, saying that he’s written up a preliminary prenup. All it says is that Allison can have whatever she wants from him.

He explains that he wants to have faith in their marriage, saying, “You can have whatever you need to feel secure. All I want is you.”

3 Brianna & Barry: Brianna’s Proposal

It may not seem like a compromise or a big step for most, but it is a big step for Brianna. While she doesn’t believe in marriage or have any desire to get married, she recognizes that Barry does. So she sets the scene with flower petals, romantic music, and candle light.

Willing to admit that she loves Barry and that she hates to think about him not being in her future, she gets down on one knee and proposes that they stay engaged forever.

2 Grace & Nick: Accepting Grace’s Age

Grace & Frankie The Top 10 Most Romantic Scenes Ranked

Grace is insecure about her age, and many of her insecurities are reasonable–after all, she and Frankie were denied a loan for their business due to their age. Nick is a younger man, and she worries that he won’t want her beyond something short-term.

In a particularly vulnerable moment, Grace takes off her make-up and other things that she uses to hide her age, thinking that Nick won’t want her, “You want the real me? Well, this is what you’ll get.” Nick says, “I’ll take it,” and kisses her.

1 Sol & Robert: Man of La Mancha

In standing up for Robert with Peter, Sol gets Robert kicked out of the musical. Although the role that Robert was playing wasn’t his preferred, he’s still upset with Sol, feeling like his musical dreams are over.

Sol does the most romantic thing by giving Robert the time to to shine. He gathers friends and family, puts Robert on the stage, and has Robert sing Robert’s favorite song of all time, “The Impossible Dream.” Cue Sol putting the spotlight (literally) on Robert, smiling lovingly and proudly as he watches his love sing.
