Here’s where else you may have seen actor Greg Germann, AKA Once Upon A Time’s Hades. Greg Germann got his start in the theater before transitioning to movies and television. His first movie was 1985’s Streetwalkin’, which also marked the film debut of future Oscar winner Melissa Leo. Germann would later pop up on various shows, including an episode of Miami Vice and Vietnam drama Tour Of Duty. He also played a small but memorable role in 1990’s Child’s Play 2, where he has an encounter with Chucky.
Greg Germann’s star began to rise during the 1990s, including appearances in Mike Myer’s dark comedy So I Married An Axe Murderer and Jack Ryan thriller Clear And Present Danger. After scoring a lead role in short-lived legal drama Sweet Justice, he moved to sitcom Ned And Stacey, which was fronted by Thomas Haden Church and Debra Messing. While the show is something of a cult favorite now, it was cancelled after two seasons, coming to an end in 1996.
Greg Germann wasn’t out of work for long, and soon landed one of his recognized roles as Richard Fish in Ally McBeal. This quirky legal drama became a major hit in the late 1990s, with Germann’s character being the co-founder of law firm Cage & Fish, and one with slightly loose morals. After the show ended in 2002, Germann bounced between assorted shows and films, including Desperate Housewives, horror remake Quarantine and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
In the 2010s Greg Germann showed up on series such as Raising Hope and How To Get Away With Murder, plus movies Fly Away and panned sequel Atlas Shrugged Part III: Who Is John Galt? In 2016 he joined the cast of fantasy series Once Upon A Time as Hades and was clearly having a very good time hamming it up as the character – though the CGI blue flame hair needed some work. Hades stuck with the show until the end of season 5 when the character was killed off.
Greg Germann has been plenty busy in the years since playing Hades, appearing in Will Ferrell/Kevin Hart comedy Get Hard and scoring a recurring role on the hit medical drama Grey’s Anatomy as Dr. Tom Koracick. Other recent work from the actor includes a role on Netflix comedy show Friends From College alongside Cobie Smulders and Keegan-Michael Key and he appeared in a season 10 episode of Larry David’s Curb Your Enthusiasm.
