Based on a teaser image from Rockstar Games, it seems Grand Theft Auto Online players may have an alien invasion to contend with in this year’s in-game Halloween event. The tease in question comes on the heels of Rockstar treating GTA Online players to a free GTA 3 shirt for the seminal title’s 20th anniversary. Of course, since we’re currently in mid-October, the studio will likely begin celebrating something else in the very near future – Halloween.

Rockstar tips its hat to the spooky season in GTA Online every year, with the fun usually starting days before Halloween and ending days after October 31 comes and goes. Last year, for instance, the festivities manifested in Halloween Week 2020, which ran from October 29 through November 4. Double and triple earnings were awarded for certain activities, Halloween-themed Adversary modes became all the rage, a downed UFO down proved very exciting, and Rockstar reimagined several in-game items to match the season of horror. But what might the developer have up its sleeve this year? Apparently, the plans include something alien in nature.

While details about GTA Online’s Halloween event for 2021 remain under lock and key, Rockstar Games shared a teaser image today that has players guessing. The post went live on the company’s Twitter account, with a caption reading, “Strange sightings in GTA Online as Halloween approaches.” Meanwhile, the image itself constitutes a Los Santos Meteor newspaper article, its headline informing readers of the peculiar lights seen hovering over Paleto Bay. A picture of a black and white UFO sits front and center. (Clearly, these are all telltale signs of a forthcoming alien invasion.) The tease in question appears as follows:

The teaser makes no mention of when GTA Online’s will begin receiving Halloween-themed content. However, tradition dictates the scares will start in the last week of October. Should that prove accurate, fans can probably expect concrete information about the event to make the rounds in the next few days.

GTA Online continues to receive major updates in addition to seasonal content drops. The most recent of such changes went live in July with the advent of Los Santos Tuners, a beefy update packed with new vehicles, the LS Car Meet, extra races, and several Contract missions.
