When Michael Myers was first created, John Carpenter decided to name him after the studio head of Miracle Films. This is due to the fact that Carpenter wanted to give a small tribute to the person because he distributed his first film Assault On Precinct 13 alongside producer Irwin Yablans. This not only shows the amount of respect that Carpenter had at the time, but it also cements why Michael Myers’ name exists.

These aspects of the character are thanks to Carpenter’s real-life class trip to a mental institution in Kentucky. One particular person that struck a chord with him was a young 12-year-old boy who gave him one of the most evil stares that he has ever seen, thus establishing some backstory to the killer.

In certain timelines of Halloween, Michael Myers himself actually has a motive behind all of his killings. The specific reasoning behind going after Laurie Strode and her extended family is the result of cleaning up unfinished business, as Laurie Strode is, in fact, her sister. In the continuity where Halloween 4-6 is a thing, Michael Myers ended up being a father. Although it was more or less not out of his own personal volition, but through other means. Thanks to the Cult Of Thorns, Michael Myers directly raped his own 15-year-old niece, which resulted in the birth of Steven Lloyd.

However, it is in fact based on a William Shatner mask from a film that he has done. In that game, Michael Myers appears during the map pack “Onslaught” as a playable character. Specifically appearing during fog, players are able to play as the killer by completing the field orders and then getting the care package.
