Halo Infinite Escharum Boss Guide (Tips Tricks & Strategies)

In Halo Infinite, players will face off with Escharum, the Banished leader, and Brute Chieftain with a fierce rivalry against Master Chief during the House of Reckoning mission. One of the last boss fights of the game, Escharum is a two-phase fight that is made even more challenging on the higher difficulties of Legendary and Heroic.

Escharum will begin the battle by firing a large scrap cannon. Players should immediately dodge the onslaught of bullets by taking cover. Players will find a variety of weapons in the area, and should take any Plasma Grenades they find. While the smaller Kinetic weapons like Halo Infinite’s Battle Rifle, Sidekick Pistol, and Assault Rifle likely will not be of much use against Escharum, the Shock Rifle can deal quite a bit of damage to the boss. On the West side of the room, players can find two rocket launchers, which can do a lot of damage.

Once players deal a small amount of damage to Escharum, he will go to the center of the arena and activate a shield. Players will be informed that to lower the shield they must destroy a power cell. Players should spot a glowing yellow tube in one of the four pillars in the room, and they can throw a Plasma Grenade at the tube to destroy it. Escharum may move in front of the pillar and block the player’s shot. If he does this, players should move across the arena to cause the boss to move toward them and away from the power cell. Of note, when the shield is damaged, Escharum will damage the captive pilot, Echo 216. Once the power cell is destroyed and the shield is lowered, players can deal damage to Escharum. During this phase, Master Chief should preserve his shields. Destroying the power cell will repeat three more times until Escharum breaks and phase one is completed.

Halo Infinite: Escharum Phase Two

Phase two begins with Escharum abandoning his cannon in Halo Infinite and using a Gravity Hammer named the Diminisher of Hope. He will begin chasing the player around the arena attempting to crush them. Players have little option to avoid this attack except to continue moving. Thrusters are particularly helpful for this phase of the fight, as they will allow the player to quickly dash away and give them an opportunity to put space between Master Chief and Escharum. Players can also use the Halo Infinite Grappleshot to avoid Escharum. Taking a direct hit from the Gravity Hammer will likely kill the player.

To defeat Escharum in Halo Infinite, players should continue shooting at him at every opportunity. Bulldog shotguns and Skewers can deal significant damage. Since Escharum always charges in a straight line, players should be able to get headshots using Skewers or a Halo Infinite Mangler. On the weapon rack, players will find a Mangler and Disruptor, which are useful in dealing damage.

Players should attempt to divert the fight to around the mirrored middle passage pillars and separate the room, or around the pillar with Echo 216. If players choose to fight in the open center of the room, they will likely incur significant damage unless their strategy is to use the Grappleshot to deal damage with fusion coils and avoid the boss. This works best if players have already upgraded their Grappleshot.

Once Halo Infinite’s Escharum is defeated, players can return to the control panel and save the captive pilot, Echo 216, to complete the mission. Players should also restock on ammo and weapons at this point because the final mission will begin immediately. The Battle Rifle and a Shock Rifle are probably the best options to restock after players defeat Escharum.
