Harley Quinn is a completely different show compared to many of the other animated series that DC have produced. The tone and a more adult target audience, has resulted in something very unique for one of DC’s biggest stars.

Marvel has plenty of characters that can benefit from this kind of show. Not only does it show a more humorous side to the universe, it also demonstrates some of the complexities of the heroes or villains that often aren’t explored. Whether they are naturally a comical character, or could fit into a funny or meta situation, there are plenty of Marvel heroes and villains that would work with a series like Harley Quinn.

10 Deadpool

It’s fairly obvious that if any character was adapted into a show like this, the merc with a mouth is the prime candidate. Deadpool is known for his meta jokes and often breaks the fourth wall.

Not only would the character fit into a show like this perfectly, it would also allow for some of his hilarious supporting players to be brought in, including Hydra Bob and the Mercs for Money.

9 Luke Cage

Luke Cage is a perfect straight man for a show like this. Although he cracks the odd joke and has a very sarcastic sense of humor, Cage plays off better against characters like Spider-Man.

His reactions are perfect and he’d set a completely different tone. Inserting Cage into various wacky situations would be a lot of fun, as the way he negotiates these instances is unique compared to other heroes.

8 Slapstick

Slapstick is a relatively unknown Marvel character which is possibly why he’d be so well suited to a medium like this. An animated show of this nature could catapult the character into super stardom.

He’s an anti-hero in many ways and completely unpredictable. There’s many Looney Tunes elements to him, but he also subverts the genre in many ways, completely changing the nature of a Marvel hero.

7 She-Hulk

She-Hulk has also been a character that has broken the fourth wall in the past, but her courtroom dramas is where a show like this could get really interesting.

Harley Quinn plays on the superhero universe in a lot of unexpected ways, for instance introducing an agency that assigns henchmen to a super villain. The legal system could be explored further in this wacky way.

6 Venom

The comedic potential of Venom has been demonstrated throughout the comics and even the films. Playing off of themes introduced in work involving Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.

In many ways, adding Venom to a show like this will allow for the more violent elements of the character, while also including some of the internal dialogue that happens between the symbiote and the human host.

5 Moon Knight

One of Moon Knight’s most iconic moments involves him storming the Avengers looking for Dracula, who he has started a rivalry with. That is the complete essence of why an animated adult show would work for the character.

He can get business done and there’s a number of more violent elements in his action sequences, but he also goes on escapades with characters that would never normally be associated with street level vigilantes.

4 Squirrel Girl

Squirrel Girl is somehow unbeatable, which is a huge element of why this character would be brilliant for an adult animated show. Every week a new mighty villain would fall to this heroine.

She’s one of the strongest female characters in all of Marvel, yet also has the ability to control squirrels; which doesn’t seem like the mightiest of powers. She’s funny, relatable and is sure to go on to do big things.

3 Spider-Man

Spider-Man is one of the funniest heroes in the Marvel Universe. He’s had plenty of animated shows over the years but this would be a massive departure compared to what he’s used to.

While the web-head isn’t likely to swear or make adult jokes, the crazy villains he normally faces would easily bring the rating up from the normal PG. How he navigates these circumstances is where the most humorous moments occur.

2 Gwen Stacy

There’s been numerous iterations of Gwen Stacy over the years. The original version met an untimely death but since then characters like Gwenpool and Ghost-Spider were born.

This would involve much more than just the spider-verse, but a show that explore the many personalities of Gwen Stacy across the multiverse would certainly draw a lot of attention.

1 Misty Knight

Misty Knight has been a lot of bizarre situations. Her time with the police force has been varied due to the super villain criminal activity she was exposed to.

She’s also been a part of the Heroes For Hire, which is a strange concept in normal reality, but somehow operated in the Marvel world. Her experiences means that she’s prepared for any situation, but an animated series tracking her career would be equal parts meta and hilarious, but certainly very gritty.
