Harley Quinn 10 Tattoos Only Devoted Fans Will Understand

Harley Quinn was originally created by Paul Dini and Bruce Timm as a counterpart for The Joker in Batman: The Animated Series in the seventh episode of the first season, which was originally broadcast in 1992. She has since made an appearance in the comics, including having a couple of her own runs, as well as in animated and live-action films, video games, and currently has her own animated television show available through the streaming service DC Universe.

Through these many notable appearances, Harley Quinn has gained a large and devoted fanbase, as often showcased through cosplay, merchandise, and tattoos. Tattoos especially are a good way to showcase a fan’s love for Harley Quinn because it allows the fan and the artist to be creative and also allows for the fan to showcase their love more often than merchandise or cosplay would allow. Here are 10 such tattoos that only devoted fans will understand.

10 Loving The Bomb(shell)

DC Comics released a line of figurines called DC Comics Bombshells, which eventually turned into multiple series of comics also called DC Comics Bombshells, both of which feature sexy, pinup versions of Harley Quinn and other notable women in the DC Universe.

This tattoo features Harley Quinn’s design for that series, with nods toward her traditional color scheme shown on her bra and in her hair. The two pigtails and the gun are also a classic Harley Quinn look incorporated into her bombshell look, which resembles a (sexy) fighter pilot.

Harley Quinn made an appearance in The LEGO Batman Movie, the sequel to The LEGO Movie, and other direct-to-video LEGO films set in the DC Universe. This tattoo features Harley Quinn in the style of LEGO and wearing a party dress.

The party dress itself is reminiscent of, but not an exact duplicate, of a dress she wears in the Batman Arkham games. She is also depicted as wearing roller skates, for which she develops an affinity in the Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti run of the comics, which originally ran from 2014-2017.

8 Harley Quinn/Elsa Crossover

This tattoo features Harley Quinn and Elsa from Disney’s Frozen series depicted as one character. The art style and facial features resemble Frozen, particularly Elsa herself. The two braids, rather than just one, and the color scheme are reminiscent of Harley Quinn’s current look in both the comic books and the DC Extended Universe films.

Harley Quinn/Elsa is depicted in modern winter clothing, likely in reference to Elsa’s ice powers and her residence in the fictional kingdom of Arendelle, which is based on Scandinavian countries and therefore gets cold. The quote “Don’t stop me now” is also featured, which is lyrics from an empowering Queen song.

Harley Quinn is associated with four diamonds arranged to create a larger diamond. These four, smaller diamonds typically follow Harley Quinn’s traditional red and black color scheme in a fashion that usually has the two smaller diamonds that are next to each other one color, and the smaller diamonds stacked on each other, the other color.

This tattoo uses the color scheme differently, having each smaller diamond contain both red and black. The diamonds are surrounded by a vine of ivy, a symbol typically associated with Poison Ivy. As of the Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti run, Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy are in a romantic relationship with each other, adding meaning beyond friendship and partnership represented in the tattoo.

The style of this tattoo is again in the style of Harley Quinn and The Joker in Batman: The Animated Series. “Mad Love” is the Batman comic book detailing Harley Quinn’s origin story and the beginnings of her relationship with The Joker. “Mad Love” is also a phrase generally associated with the couple, since they are both depicted as crazy, especially in the beginning of Harley Quinn’s storyline.

The couple has an affinity for explosives as well as other weaponry. They also often turn on each other, as shown by the fact that while they are kissing, they are each holding a deadly weapon behind their backs.

Harley Quinn is featured in the animated web series DC Superhero Girls where she attends Super Hero High. As such she, and other DC characters are depicted as high school students. In the show, Harley Quinn is a gymnast, just as she is revealed to be in her origin story.

This tattoo shows the head of the DC Superhero Girls version of Harley Quinn with her initials positioned in a way that is reminiscent of a playing card with the “H” in the top “corner” and the “Q” in the bottom. There is no outline of a playing card as part of the tattoo, but the aesthetic still comes across, nonetheless.

Harley Quinn has pet names for The Joker such as “Mista J” or “Puddin'” which is referenced in the tattoo above. The word “Puddin'” in the tattoo reflects her accent and how she pronounces what would be “Pudding” for any other person using it as a pet name.

On the other hand, “Doll Face” is The Joker’s pet name for Harley Quinn. It is probably one of the most notable pet names he has for her, other than “Sweets” or “Darling.” Unlike Harley Quinn, The Joker has fairly generic pet names for her, but they can still be identifiable as a tattoo, especially when paired with one of Harley Quinn’s pet names for The Joker.

Harley Quinn is associated with a group of villains known as The Gotham City Sirens. The group is actually a trio and is made up of Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, and Catwoman. This trio is the most notorious and popular woman villains from the Batman comics, and whenever they are together in the comics, they are always depicted as friendly toward each other and having good chemistry.

This tattoo features Poison Ivy, Catwoman, and two different versions of Harley Quinn: the original version and the most recent version given to us by the DC Extended Universe’s movie Suicide Squad.

This tattoo features Harley Quinn in the style of the Batman Arkham games, more specifically Batman: Arkham City. While her full body is not shown, the sleeves of her outfit indicate that she is wearing a dress, similar to the party dress worn by the LEGO Harley Quinn earlier in this article.

In this tattoo, Harley Quinn is surrounded by The Joker’s laughter, who is not shown in the tattoo. Instead, the laughter signals to those looking at the tattoo that he is near Harley. Alternatively, she could be hearing his laughter in her head, meaning he is in a way, still close to her.

This tattoo also features Harley Quinn as a playing card, specifically The Joker card, as indicated by the “Js” found in the top left and bottom right corners. Like in the Gotham City Sirens tattoo, Harley Quinn’s most recent notable look is featured (on top), as well as her original look (on bottom). The new depiction of Harley Quinn uses a bat or a hammer, as shown by the top Harley’s use of a bat. The bottom Harley is depicted holding her traditional gun.

The sequence of four diamonds follows a blue and pink color scheme, which is associated with the new depiction of Harley Quinn.
