Hawkeye Episode 5 Will Be A Big One According To Its Directors

While it’ll be tough to live up to the thrilling last two episodes, Hawkeye’s episode 5 will be huge on social media, according to its directors.

After a slower paced buildup in its first two episodes (which were directed by Rhys Thomas), Hawkeye directing duo Bert & Bertie, whose real names are Amber Templemore-Finlayson and Katie Ellwood, confirmed that episode 5 will indeed be a big one. This comes after rumors were building that it could lead to the introduction of Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin.

During an interview with ComicBook.com, the directors reflected on the reaction to episode 3, which featured one of the MCU’s most impressive action sequences in recent memory, and how it blew up on social media. Bertie then added with a big grin spread across her face, “We love where this show is going, and five is the last one we did, so of course it’s going to blow up Twitter.” If all is true, D’Onofrio, who fans believe was briefly teased in episode 3 during a flashback with a young Maya Lopez as her “uncle,” may finally reprise his role as the villain from Netflix’s Daredevil.

While D’Onofrio tried ignoring any rumors regarding his character’s return, he did share with ComicBook.com in another interview that he felt very close to the character and that he would very much enjoy playing Kingpin again if the opportunity arose. “I feel very close to that character. I do have to say, I do feel like that character is mine and it’s only because I played him for those three seasons and was so close with him… So I think that any offer to play him again would be, I would definitely have a really good look at for sure,” D’Onofrio shared.

While fans will just have to wait and see if D’Onofrio’s return as Kingpin is official, Marvel Studios’ president Kevin Feige has already confirmed that Charlie Cox’s Daredevil will be featured in the MCU. Daredevil is a character who has plenty of fans excited to see how he’ll fit into the ongoing universe, with many speculating that his first appearance will occur in the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home. With only two episodes left, Hawkeye will no doubt provide a satisfying conclusion that will set up various new stories moving forward.

The series, which currently has a 92% on Rotten Tomatoes, has been praised for its more grounded, street-level setting and the chemistry between Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye and Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop. Hawkeye also stars Vera Farmiga as Eleanor Bishop, Kate’s mother, Tony Dalton as Jack Duquesne, Barton’s old mentor, Fra Free as the mercenary Kazi, Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez/Echo, a deaf character who can perfectly copy others people’s movements (a spin-off series about her character is already in development), Zahn McClarnon as William Lopez, Maya’s father, and other MCU newcomer Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova (who made her debut in Black Widow)

Hawkeye is available to stream on Disney Plus with new episodes airing every Wednesday.
