Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima joins the advisory board of Prologue Immersive, a virtual reality company known for its work on blockbuster movies and games.

Hideo Kojima seems very busy these days. After his complex departure from Konami last year, the creation of a new development company, and the intriguing trailer for Death Stranding he shared at E3, it would seem the gaming genius wouldn’t have any extra time on his hands. Apparently he does.

Turns out Kojima has joined the advisory board of Prologue Immersive, an augmented and virtual reality company. The move isn’t too surprising considering one of Kojima’s long-time friends, Kyle Cooper, is also on the board. Cooper worked on a number of Metal Gear games with Kojima, including Metal Gear Solid 2, 3, and V.

The personal connection likely isn’t the only reason Kojima decided to join the ranks at Prologue Immersive. The Metal Gear creator is known for exploring new technologies when it comes to the games he creates. So joining the advisory board of a VR company seems like a logical move since VR is the next big thing in gaming.

According to VRDB, after first visiting Prologue Immersive earlier this year, Kojima has very positive things to say about the company and team:

I’m very excited to hear that masters of the visual arts such as Kyle Cooper and his team are taking on yet another challenge in this digital interactive media that is VR. Through VR, I am certain they will strive to connect films and video games and take us on to that bridge to the future that lies ahead. It would be my absolute pleasure to assist the Coopers on this new adventure they are embarking on. We can expect a whole new world of entertainment. 2016 will surely be remembered as Year One for VR.

Obviously, Kojima is already thinking in terms of virtual reality and the possibilities available in the world of video games. Hopefully this means Kojima is working on, or at least thinking about, how to use VR for an upcoming project. So far Kojima hasn’t announced anything about bringing Death Stranding or any other properties to virtual reality, but considering the visual art Kojima’s known for, gamers are undoubtedly hoping to see something soon from the creative master. In the meantime, gamers can look forward to Death Stranding, which Kojima has revealed will be his “best work” yet.

For its part, Prologue Immersive already has an impressive portfolio, including Iron Man, Prometheus, Godzilla, and some learning software that specializes in virtual and augmented reality. The studio was founded by Emmy nominated designer and creative executive, Kimberly Cooper, and will continue its efforts as a pioneer in the virtual and augmented reality industry.
