Hitman 3 has been out just over a week, but it’s set to be one of the first hit games of 2021, having already recouped its development costs. It’s a satisfying conclusion to the World of Assassination Trilogy, building on and surpassing both Hitman 1 and Hitman 2. Like in the first two games in the series, Agent 47 travels the world pulling off elegant executions in almost any way imaginable. The genetically engineered killer doesn’t really need weapons to get the job done, but he still has an arsenal of deadly gear worthy of his rank as the world’s best assassin. Hitman 3 expands that arsenal even more, just like it did with 47’s gadgets
Like previous Hitman games, Hitman 3 is a stealth-oriented title that rewards the player for being subtle. But most of the weapons in the game aren’t exactly subtle. While it’s possible to complete each level guns-blazing, it’s usually much more difficult and much less satisfying. Guns, blades, explosives, and other weapons do have alternate uses. A well-placed shot from a silenced pistol can distract a guard, or erase the surveillance footage after 47 gets caught on camera. But overall, much of the game can be completed weapons-free.
Even if they’re somewhat optional, the weapons in Hitman 3 are still worth getting. In order to permanently unlock them, the player will usually need to reach a specific Mastery Level in a given level. This can be done by completing the game’s many challenges. Once these weapons are unlocked, they’ll be available at the mission planning stage in Hitman 3, and if the player has purchased Hitman 1 and 2 and downloaded the corresponding Access Passes, they’ll be available in those games as well.
All The New Unlockable Weapons In Hitman 3
- ICA 19 Red. A re-skinned version of the ICA 19 from Hitman 1 and 2, nicknamed the “blackballer.” It’s included in the Trinity Pack pre-order bonus. Comes in red.
- ICA 19 White Trinity. Another re-skin of the ICA 19 from the Trinity Pack pre-order bonus. Comes in white.
- Burj al-Ghalazi Snowglobe. Technically a weapon because, like almost any blunt inanimate object he can pick up, 47 can chuck it at someone’s head and knock them out, rendering them unconscious for the rest of the mission unless a guard discovers and wakes them. This is a tiny model of the Dubai skyscraper and world’s tallest building, but inside a snow globe. Unlocked at Dubai Mastery Level 2.
- Explosive Golf Ball. The very same exploding golf ball from Hitman 1‘s Sapienza level returns in Hitman 3‘s Dubai level. It’s also an unlockable for the first time in the series. Can be used to assassinate Dubai target Carl Ingram, or brought on any mission and thrown for an instant explosion. Unlocked at Dubai Mastery Level 10.
- Ornate Scimitar. Identical to the one found on Ingram’s desk. Risky to bring along on a mission without a disguise that allows for openly carrying weapons. Swords and other blades in the Hitman series are involved in some mission-specific challenges or escalations, but they’re conspicuous and messy and rarely the best way to eliminate a target. Counterpoint: very fun. Unlocked at Dubai Mastery Level 13.
- Druzhina 34 DTI. It’s the tan version of the Druzhina 34. This sniper rifle is effective at any range and comes with piercing rounds, which can shoot through multiple bodies at once. That’s handy for any challenges that calls for two targets to be killed simultaneously, and it’s useful on Hitman speed runs. The downside is that it’s unsilenced. Unlocked at Dubai Mastery Level 15.
- ICA 19 Shortballer. A silenced pistol that does high damage like the ICA 19 Black Lilly but also has an aim stabilization feature. Unlocked at Dartmoor Mastery Level 5.
- Kukri Knife. Another unnecessary but fun antique blade. Per the game description, it was recovered in India and brought back to England in the 1890s. Unlocked at Dartmoor Mastery Level 13.
- Walking Cane. A dapper non-lethal melee weapon with the head of a bulldog. Unlocked at Dartmoor Mastery Level 18.
- Bartoli Woodsman Hunting Rifle. A basic sniper rifle option. Unlocked at Dartmoor Mastery Level 20.
- Custom 5mm DTI. A variant of the 5mm DTI. This is a silent lightweight pistol that’s undetectable in guard pat-downs. The downside is it has five bullets and no reloads. Unlocked at Berlin Mastery Level 7.
- ICA Tactical Shotgun. This is one of the best new shotguns and may be Hitman‘s best overall weapon in the series. It has a faster rate of fire and tighter spread and is very handy if stealth isn’t a priority. Unlocked at Chongqing Mastery Level 10.
- ICA SMG Raptor Covert. A silenced submachine gun. Unfortunately it’s not concealable, so it’s risky to bring along without the right disguise. Unlocked at Chongqing Mastery Level 15.
- Hackl Leviathan Sniper Rifle. Silent sniper rifle with rounds that are both piercing as well as subsonic, meaning their impacts will not attract nearby guards. This one also has a scope with a four-level zoom and an aim stabilizer. However, it is not as powerful or as long-range as other rifles. Unlocked at Chongqing Mastery Level 20.
- ICA DTI Stealth. A faster-firing, but not as accurate, silenced pistol that does average damage. Unlocked at Mendoza Level 2.
- Kalmer 2 Tranquilizer. This is the second variant of a non-lethal weapon that sedates rather than kills. Unfortunately it only comes with two shots. Unlocked at Mendoza Mastery Level 5.
- ICA Combat Axe. Another deadly melee weapon for those not in love with subtlety. Unlocked at Mendoza Level 7.
- Krugermeier 2-2 Silver. The silver version of a handy Hitman 2 pistol that came in gold, the Krugermeier is a silent gun that fires subsonic rounds, like the Hackl Leviathan Sniper Rifle does. It has poor range, however. Unlocked at Mendoza Level 10.
- DAK Black Covert. A silenced submachine gun that’s classified as a pistol, making it concealable and a very good idea to acquire. Unlocked at Mendoza Level 15.
- Sieger 300 Viper. A solid medium-range sniper rifle with a silencer. Unlocked at Mendoza Level 20.
- HWK 21 Pale Homemade Silencer. If 47 collects a non-silenced HWK 21 during the “Carpathian Mountains” mission, he can craft the homemade silencer at a work bench. Otherwise, this gun can be permanently unlocked by reaching Mastery Level 2 in that level. It’s useful for close-quarters headshots and the silencer works just as well as every other non-subsonic silencer. Unlocked at Carpathian Mountains Mastery Level 2.
- Proximity Semtex Demo Block Mk III. Unlocked at Carpathian Mountains Mastery Level 4.
- ICA Tactical Shotgun Covert. A shotgun with a silencer. Unlocked at Carpathian Mountains Mastery Level 5.
- Fiber Wire Classic. The classic version of 47’s trusty garrote. Unlocked by completing 17 Silent Assassin challenges.
- ICA Classic. A non-silenced pistol with aim stabilization. Unlocked by completing 17 Silent Assassin, Suit Only Challenges.
- ICA Woodsman Rifle Covert. A silenced sniper rifle with piercing rounds, triple zoom, and the ability to slow time. Unlocked by completing 17 Sniper Rifle Challenges
Unlocking these weapons will make them available in all other Hitman 3 levels, as well as all levels in Hitman 1 and Hitman 2, but only if the player already owns those games and downloads their corresponding Access Passes.
