How to Complete the Bozjan Relic in Final Fantasy 14 (Patch 555)

Final Fantasy 14 has just received a mini-update in the form of patch 5.55. This includes the formal conclusion of Shadowbringers to setup Endwalker, an ending to the Nier raid series, and officially launches the PlayStation 5 version of the game. While there may not be brand new story content until November, Square Enix is still releasing events to tide players over.

Another big addition is the finale to the Save the Queen storyline and an upgrade to the Bozjan relic first seen near the middle of the expansion. Dedicated players will be rewarded with the strongest weapon currently in the game, and can acquire armor based around heroes from Final Fantasy 12 like Basch, Penelo, and Larsa. This can be a long process and the development team has warned players to not burn out too soon.

Entering Zadnor in Final Fantasy 14

Players will have to be rather far in the Shadowbringers storyline, including all of 5.2 patch content including the level 80 dungeon Matoya’s Relict and the subsequent solo instance The Great Ship of Vylbrand. Players will also need to have completed everything else within the Save the Queen side-story arc. This includes having cleared both Castrum Lacus Litore and Delubrum Reginae at least once. If both the proceeding steps are done, there will be a new quest from Marsak in Gangos tilted A New Playing Field.

Once inside Zadnor, players will want to rank up to the maximum new rank cap of 25 by completing Skirmishes and Critical Engagements. This will require several million Mettle. New to the Zadnor is another large-scale assault known as Dalriada designed for 48 players. For first-timers, a full raid party may be needed, however, the use of Essence items and Resistance Honors (after rank 25) will easily allow smaller parties to clear the assault. There is also a strong echo buff for parties below 24 participants.

Dalriada Raid

The group will need to split off into two paths – one taking the Star Chaser hoverbikes to the left, and the other directly forward. The former will fight the mage Sartauvoir the Inferno, and the latter several waves of enemies including Blackburn, Augur, Alkonost, and Carrion Crow. The teams will want at least one good healer and possibly up to two tanks distract reinforcements. The teams will then regroup to take on a Scorpion followed shortly by Gilbrisbert the Puppetmaster who will morph into Cuchulainn.

In the next zone, the group will have to divide into three going left, right, and some staying in the center. At least two players will need to remain in the starting room and fight on top of the floor panels, which will deactivate the electric floors damaging the other teams. They will also need to watch the monitors and warn of laser beams that are about to fire and push back. The other two groups will need to carefully move past the laser walls when they power down and destroy the Colossus Rubricatus at the end.

Finally, players will reach the final area and will first battle the dual bosses of Lyon and the Saunion battle armor. This will be concluded with the Diablo Armament, which mimics stronger version attacks of Diabolos from the Lost City of Amdapor. Players will also receive Bozjan Platinum Coins to purchase item level 525 Blade’s Armor.

Completing the Bozjan Blade’s Weapon in Final Fantasy 14

Once gaining access to Zadnor and having an item level 515 Augmented Law’s Order weapon, Gerlot will have a preliminary quest What Dreams are Made Of. This will open up more missions for his aide Zlatan.

Items for Zlatan

Zlatan will have three separate, but related quests: Spare Parts, Tell Me a Story, and A Fond Memory. These three quests require spare parts, books, or memories, respectively. Players will need to gather 180 total items, mostly as drops by completing Skirmishes and Critical Engagements in Zadnor. The items are separated into each of Zadnor’s three zones and are granted by earning a gold rank during either field battle. This will allow players to gain items at the same time as earning Mettle or normal experience points. Another option is to re-fight raid content throughout Heavensward, Stormblood, and Shadowbringers. Selecting the latter will require the following:

Note that all of these need to be on normal difficulty and synced to correct levels. The savage versions of these fights do not yield the necessary items. Thankfully, Zlatan only needs these quests to be completed once for the first Bozjan relic. For all future relics this step will be skipped.

Raw Emotions

Zlatan will offer follow-up repeatable quests A Done Deal and Irresistible, which must be completed for each individual relic. He will need players to collect 15 Raw Emotions dropped from either the new Dalriada raid (guaranteed three drops) or the older Delubrum Reginae raid (guaranteed two drops). Players will also have a chance to gain items from the following Stormblood content:

With the items handed in, players will receive their custom item level 535 Blade’s Weapon. The process can be repeated for more ultimate weapons and Bozjan Platinum Coins.
