How to Fast Travel in Monster Hunter Stories 2

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin lets the player ride on their monsters outside of battle, but players who want to let their dragons have a rest can resort to fast traveling. Monster Hunter Stories 2 has a massive game world for the player to explore, and it will take a long time to do it on foot.

There are mounts in Monster Hunter Stories 2 that allow the player to bypass environmental hazards, and much of the early game involves crafting a team that can make exploring easier. This is similar to the HM mule situation in the old Pokémon games, where a team of monsters will be decided by their ability to break rocks, climb, and swim, rather than their combat prowess. Much of Monster Hunter Stories 2 will involve exploring caves and battling lesser enemies while farming resources that are used for crafting better armor and weapons.

Once the player is done exploring, they can zip to any place in the world. It’s possible to fast travel between locations in Monster Hunter Stories 2, but the player needs to do some running around first. In order to do this, the player needs to find Catavan Stands. These can only be accessed outside of battle.

The Catavan Stands in Monster Hunter Stories 2

In order to fast travel, the player needs to unlock Catavan Stands. These are displayed on the map as cat paws with three toes. Once the player approaches them, they will look like poles with arrows on them. Some of the Catavan Stands also have Felyne attendants waiting outside. All of the cities in Monster Hunter Stories 2 have Catavan Stands inside, making it easy to warp to them after a resource run.

To use the Catavan Stand, the player needs to bring up the map (the plus button on Nintendo Switch) and press the menu button (X on Nintendo Switch). This will bring up a list of all of the Catavan Stands that the player has unlocked. The list will also show the Catavan Stands that haven’t been unlocked yet, so the player knows how many to look for. If it seems as if the player has unlocked them all, but there aren’t any around, then it’s possible that they can’t be unlocked yet. Some of the Catavan Stands in each area cannot be unlocked until later in the game, when the player gains access to a specific story-relevant mount.
