How to play as a Star Wars Alien Species in Sims 4 Star Wars Journey to Batuu

If players have ever wanted to make their Sim a Twi’lek, Zabrak, or Togruta from the Star Wars universe, the new Sims 4 Game Pack, Star Wars: Journey to Batuu, allows them to do so with a few extremely detailed and fully animated masks. There have been aliens in the Sims series for a long time, with the most recent rendition coming from The Sims 4: Get to Work Expansion Pack. Those aliens come from the planet Sixam and can present as either human or alien. These aliens are mostly humanoid but have darkened irises, skin tones in many different colors, and tinny voices. There was never much variety to them. Now, players can turn their Sims into more interesting and familiar alien species from across the galaxy.

The characters from Batuu typically remain isolated in the vacation world, and players are not likely to see Storm Troopers or Twi’leks milling about Oasis Springs unless they customize a Sim and place them there. Players also cannot build on Batuu without cheats or have their Sims live there permanently. However, if players want to tell a Star Wars story that involves two Togruta siblings and their pet droid trying to fit in with the Landgraabs and the Goths, items from Batuu, including the alien species masks, will transfer into the base game. Here’s how to create a Star Wars alien Sim in The Sims 4.

How to Play as A Star Wars Alien Species in The Sims 4

To play as a Star Wars alien in The Sims 4, players will first need to purchase and install the Star Wars: Journey to Batuu Game Pack. When they launch the game, they will want to select New Game to be taken to Create-a-Sim.

They can choose to fill out the Sim’s story or start from scratch. Once they have selected a gender, age, and vocal tone for their Sim, they can begin creating. Players should note that Toddler and Child Sims do not have the option of using the masks. It is possible this will eventually be added, either by developers or through mods, though Toddler and Child Sims are often left out of DLC content.

All the Star Wars alien masks can be found under the Hats category when the player clicks on the Sim’s face. Here, players will find a few Star Wars costumes that were added as a free update to the base game, including Princess Leia’s iconic buns for women and Boba Fett’s and Darth Vaders’ masks for men. These are not fully animated and will look like a costume.

From the Journey to Batuu Pack, they can choose from Kylo Ren’s mask, a Twi’lek male or female, Zabrak horns for males and females, an alien that kind of resembles a Bith, and Yuuzhan Vong, among others. In the Face Paint subcategory of the Makeup section, they can also find makeup that will replicate the look of Mirialans.

Depending on the Sim’s mask or makeup, the player can sometimes still adjust the facial features. For species like the Bith and Yuuzhan Vong, the player won’t be able to change the Sim’s features.

Players can then select a Sim’s clothing, traits, and aspirations as normal and begin the game in any of the regular Sims 4 worlds. With the new Star-Wars-themed Build and Buy Mode items, they can bring the Star Wars experience into their regular gameplay.
