Huge iPhone 14 Leak Reveals No Notch Flush Cameras

Just a few days before Apple is set to unveil the iPhone 13, gorgeous renders of the iPhone 14 have appeared online. On Tuesday, September 14, Apple’s taking the stage to announce all of its latest products. Rumor has it there will be the iPhone 13 series, Apple Watch Series 7, AirPods 3, and complete redesigns for the MacBook Pro and iPad mini. In short, there’s a lot to look forward to.

In the case of the iPhone 13, all signs point to it being a fairly modest upgrade over the iPhone 12. It’s rumored to have the same design, same price, and be available in the same four models as last year — including the iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max. Upgrades like a 120Hz display and improved cameras are exciting, but it’s safe to assume this will be one of the tamer iPhone updates in some time. That’s lead some folks to believe it’s because Apple’s working on something extraordinary for the iPhone 14. If this latest leak is to be believed, that may very well be true.

On September 8, Jon Prosser of Front Page Tech shared high-quality device renders of what he claims is the iPhone 14 (specifically, the iPhone 14 Pro Max). Perhaps the biggest talking point is the iPhone 14’s notch — or rather the lack thereof. These renders show the iPhone 14 Pro Max with a small camera cutout at the top of the screen and nothing more. It’s been rumored that Apple’s working to hide its Face ID sensors underneath the display, and according to these renders, that’ll actually happen next year. Prosser does warn that other iPhone 14 models could still ship with the iconic notch, with Apple reserving this all-display upgrade just for the Pro Max variant.

iPhone 14 To Have Flush Cameras, Titanium Frame, And More

Looking at the back of the iPhone 14, another huge change is seen with the cameras. It has the same three-camera array that’s been used since the iPhone 11 Pro, but in these renders, all three camera sensors are flush with the phone’s backside. This will inevitably result in a thicker overall smartphone, but that extra room could also allow for a larger battery and more impressive camera tech.

Something else worth highlighting is the overall aesthetic of the iPhone 14. It has a sleek backside with the Apple logo underneath the glass, a titanium frame around the sides of the phone, and circular volume buttons. As Prosser points out, it looks eerily similar to the iPhone 4. Apple was already inching closer to its nostalgic design roots when it reverted to flat edges on the iPhone 12 series. The idea of Apple going even further in that direction isn’t hard to believe, and based on what’s showcased here, combining that iPhone 4 style with the tech of a modern iPhone looks beyond impressive.

While Prosser has been pretty accurate with previous Apple leaks, showcasing renders of a smartphone that’s over a year away is a bit concerning. This may very well be an iPhone 14 prototype Apple is working on, but that’s not to say there aren’t other prototypes it’s also considering. It’d be one thing if this render was coming out in mid-2022, but to have such a detailed look at the iPhone 14 in September 2021 does raise the alarm bells a bit. We certainly hope this is what the iPhone 14 looks like. For now, however, take it with a grain of salt.
