After eleven years of donations, Humble Bundle is thanking gamers for helping to raise $200 million for charity. Back in 2010, Humble Bundle began as a single effort to raise money for charity by buying a bundle of games. Since then, the company has grown to become one of the top places to buy discount games and support a variety of different charities. The company, like its competitors Steam and the Epic Games Store, offer great deals throughout the year that gamers can choose from.

One of the best offerings that Humble Bundle has is the Humble Choice monthly subscription service. Each month for $12, Humble Bundle offers a bundle of different games accessible through Steam. Additionally, each month features a different charity. Charities aren’t limited to gaming-related organizations either, as Humble Bundle works with the World Wildlife Foundation, American Red Cross, and Make-A-Wish, just to name a few. Gamers can buy individual bundles, too, paying a minimum to unlock all of the content or as much as they would like to support a particular charity.

In a new video by Humble Bundle on YouTube, the organization pays thanks to all gamers who helped raise $200 million. The video shows what a handful of different charities used with the donations over the past eleven years. Widely available clean water for developing countries, technology developments for disabled gamers, and even a system to identify early diabetes result from donations.

Sometimes Humble Bundle will also have 100%-to-charity bundles for specific charities. This past year, the organization raised $1.17 million for COVID relief efforts. Humble Bundle also released its first exclusive offering in Stephen King’s Red Screen, a short story by the famed author that sold for five dollars. That deal raised $150 thousand for the American Civil Liberties Union, which helps protect people’s civil liberties and rights. In addition to these donations, the company also raised awareness for the Black Lives Matter movement by creating a $1 million fund for Black game developers.

While there are many digital marketplaces for games and software on the internet, there aren’t many that regularly donate profits to charities globally and locally. Every purchase through Humble Bundle contributes toward a charity of some sort. Its users recently chastised the company for limiting the amount of money donated to a specific cause to 15%. That changed in a matter of days as users can once again freely choose where their money goes.

As gaming grows in popularity, even more money will be available to donate to different causes. Humble Bundle is among the leaders making an impact through gaming. If the company could raise $200 million in just over a decade, one can only imagine how much will be raised over the next ten years.
