During the most recent State of Play broadcast, PlayStation debuted another look Hunter’s Arena: Legends, a PvP and PvE experience that PS Plus members can play for free from August 3 to September 6. A combat-focused battle royale title, Hunter’s Arena: Legends originally launched on PC via Steam Early Access in July 2020.

The drops players into an ancient Asian setting where survival often proves difficult due to the constantly waging war between Demons and Hunters. Players, naturally, assume the roles of Hunters who fight demonic forces at every turn. But while these in-game threats will provide quite the challenge, so, too will other players. Hunters aren’t at a total disadvantage, though, thanks in large part to the special combat abilities they possess, abilities that require perfect timing and a good grasp of the overall skillset. Developer Mantisco showcased this much and more during the latest State of Play stream.

Today’s State of Play showed Hunter’s Arena: Legends in action on PS5, giving viewers a good look at the online title’s mystical world. Hunter versus Demon gameplay featured heavily, as did a quick look at player versus player combat. Other aspects of the experience, such as the goofy customization options, also featured in the brief gameplay preview. And the Mantisco representative who narrated the video noted that players can expect to enjoy two different battle royale modes. Solo allows users to fend for themselves in a 30-player free-for-all, while Trio mode sees Hunters squad up in groups of three. PS Plus subscribers on PS4 and PS5 fans can join the fun for free from August 3 to September 6.

Hunter’s Arena: Legends seems as if it will serve as a solid entry in August 2021’s PlayStation Plus lineup. Because July is just getting started, details about what other titles may fill out next month’s PS Plus offerings will remain under wraps for a few more weeks.

PS Plus’ July 2021 lineup isn’t half bad, either. 2018’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 headlined the list of freebies, which also includes the critically panned WWE 2K Battlegrounds, and the upgraded PlayStation 5 version of the much-acclaimed A Plague Tale: Innocence. Each of these adventures exits the PS Plus service on Monday, August 2.
