The “Deadwood” alum may have let slip which “much-loved character” will return in the sixth season of the HBO drama.

Ian McShane previously teased that his brief-but-important role on “Game of Thrones” involves “bringing somebody back that you think you’re never going to see again,” which didn’t really reveal too much, considering the sheer volume of characters who’ve been killed off. However, today the veteran actor seems to have gone too far with his hints, and let a major spoiler slip.

Vulture reports McShane appeared first on “BBC Breakfast,” where he teased, “My character is an ex-warrior who has become a peacenik. So I have this group of peaceful … sort of a cult, a peaceful tribe. I bring back a much-loved character who everyone thinks is dead.”

That’s a fairly vague rephrasing of his earlier comment, allowing for anyone from Jon Snow to Catelyn Stark to King Robert. (However, it’s now pretty clear McShane is playing a version of the Elder Brother.)

But then the actor played the same game of BBC Radio 5, where he encouraged the host to guess which “much-loved character.” When the host said he could only talking about the Hound or Jon Snow, McShane replied, “It’s not the latter, it might be the former.”

Yes, it “might” be the Hound. Ahem.

“Game of Thrones” returns Sunday, April 24, on HBO.
