Quentin Tarantino is a master of many forms of filmmaking. He writes some of the best dialogue in movies, has a pitch-perfect eye for casting choices, even pulling out some actors from yesteryear to give them a new lease on life. He can put everything together in a package that is brilliant, creative, and proof that he is one of the best directors of his generation.

His movies also celebrate bad guys doing bad things and the heroes who have to overcome this evil. With that said, his villains are never one-dimensional baddies and often share more in common with the heroes than anyone feels comfortable admitting. Even when his heroes are villains themselves, Tarantino has mastered taking the worst villains and helping them steal the show.

10 Hans Landa (Inglourious Basterds)

Christoph Waltz’s Hans Landa is one of the most despicable villains in any Tarantino movie for a myriad of reasons. He is a Nazi known by the nickname The Jew Hunter and opened the film by murdering an entire Jewish family hiding in the floorboards under a home.

His whole purpose in life is to kill, but Landa is charismatic and someone who can talk anyone into giving themselves up. Waltz portrayed Landa so brilliantly that he picked up on Oscar for his performance. Tarantino himself called this one of the best characters he created in his career.

9 Calvin Candie (Django Unchained)

Much like Hans Landa, the character of Calvin Candie was also a villain built out of racist hatred. While Landa was a man who hunted down Jewish people in World War II, Candie was a man who owned slaves and treated them terribly in his brutal and brilliant movie Django Unchained.

Played by Leonardo DiCaprio, Candie makes his money through his cotton plantation on the backs of his slave labor, and through fights that he sets up, with his slaves forced to compete for betting men. He is the man who owned Django’s wife, Brunhilda.

8 Louis Gara (Jackie Brown)

Louis Gara wasn’t the main villain in Jackie Brown, but he was the scariest. Played by Robert De Niro, this took the Oscar-winning actor back to some of his best roles when it comes to the terrifying, mentally-unbalanced killers of his past.

Louis was a friend of Ordell Robbie and seemed simple-minded and overly loyal to Ordell. In the movie, he was ruthless, killing Robbie’s girlfriend, Melanie, in cold blood.

7 Stuntman Mike McKay (Death Proof)

Stuntman Mike was the serial killer from the Quentin Tarantino portion of Grindhouse, titled Death Proof. Played by Kurt Russell, Stuntman Mike was a sociopath and was part slasher movie killer and part Grindhouse sociopath, played with only the swagger Russell musters.

This Tarantino villain uses his modified car to kill girls. It is set up so that it will kill anyone it strikes, and anyone sitting in the vehicle — except for the driver, who is “death proof.” In the film, he killed five people and almost killed three more until they took the battle to him.

6 Maynard and Zed (Pulp Fiction)

There are no good guys in Pulp Fiction. The closest to a good guy in the movie is a boxer who takes dives for money, and he is not a good person at all. However, two men are even worse than the hired gunmen and mafia kingpin in the movie.

Maynard and Zed own a pawnshop and have a man in a mask called The Gimp, who they use to assault anyone they lure into their basement sexually. In a film of evil people, these are the worst villains of the entire movie.

5 Mr. Blonde (Reservoir Dogs)

Quentin Tarantino’s first movie was his homage to Stanley Kubrick’s The Killing and focused on a group of thieves who pulled off a jewelry store height before going on the run when the police showed up.

Not everyone lived, and those who did realize one of them was a rat who betrayed them to the police. Out of all the criminals in the movie, the worst villain was easily Michael Madsen’s Mr. Blonde, a man who cut off a police officer’s ear while listening to pop music.

4 O-Ren Ishii (Kill Bill)

In Kill Bill, the selling point was pitting The Bride, a woman whose wedding ended up as a bloody massacre, with the man responsible for the slaughter. On top of that, she was a former assassin Bill punished for leaving him, and she had to work her way through his other assassins to get to him.

There were terrific villains in the two movies, but the best of the best was easily O-Ren, the best killer outside of The Bride herself. Played by Lucy Liu, O-Ren and her soldiers took the war to The Bride in one of the best-filmed fight scenes in the movie before O-Ren, and The Bride finished the fight in the snow.

3 Bill (Kill Bill)

The Kill Bill saga ended (for now) with The Bride facing off with the man who tried to kill her, Bill. Played by David Carridine, Bill was ominous and evil and the worst villain in either movie by a long-shot.

He murdered her groom and the entire wedding party because he was not willing to let her go to live a real life after she served him for so long. By the end, viewers were happy to see Bill get everything he deserved and more.

2 Ordell Robbie (Jackie Brown)

Ordell Robbie was the worst villain in Jackie Brown, someone who had no morals, no scruples, and was someone no one could trust.

Sam Jackson has played many characters in many Tarantino movies, most of them bad guys, but Robbie was the one that scraped the bottom of the barrel. He set up his woman in Jackie Brown, and he murdered at least two associates in cold-blood. By the end, he tried to kill Jackie, proving not even those he claimed to protect can trust him.

1 Marsellus Wallace (Pulp Fiction)

One of the most memorable villains in Quentin Tarantino movies is Marsellus Wallace, the mafia kingpin in Pulp Fiction. He sent Vincent and Jules to kill people in his name. He sent Vincent to kill Butch for refusing to throw a fight. It is also said he threw a man off a building for giving his wife a foot massage.

He was responsible for the death of Vincent, and the only time that viewers cheered for him was when he ended up in the grips of The Gimp. As bad as this villain was, it was still crowd-pleasing when he threatened Zed with a pair of pliers and a blowtorch.
