Is Millie Bobby Brown In Eternals Casting Rumors Explained

With the release date for Eternals nearing, confusion surrounding Millie Bobby Brown’s involvement in the MCU film is more prevalent than ever. The Stranger Things actress serves as one of the industry’s rising stars, so it was only a matter of time before her name was attached to some of the most popular franchises. While Brown’s name has been linked to Eternals for years, the recent trailer for the Marvel movie seemed to confirm the truth about her casting, or lack thereof.

As mentioned, Brown rose to widespread fame with her portrayal of Eleven in Netflix’s sci-fi hit, Stranger Things. Before that, the young actress had roles in shows like Intruders, NCIS, Modern Family, and Grey’s Anatomy. However, playing Eleven put Brown on the map since the role allowed her to mature with the character in a multi-year gig. Brown was just 12-years-old when Stranger Things debuted in 2016, and she could very well reach 18 by the time season 4 debuts. Tackling the role of Eleven has led to her casting in Legendary’s MonsterVerse, playing Madison Russell in Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Godzilla vs. Kong. Brown was also given the titular leading role in Netflix’s Enola Holmes, which recently received a sequel.

As Brown’s stardom continues to rise, so do the number of casting rumors she finds herself attached to. In the summer of 2019, Brown was said to be cast in an undisclosed role in Chloé Zhao’s Eternals. Though there may not be an abundance of roles for teens in the MCU just yet, that hasn’t stopped the rumor mill. Shortly after the rumors ran rampant, Brown took to social media to debunk the reports. Still, there were predictions Brown still had a role in the film that Marvel Studios’ was waiting patiently to announce. Based on the Eternals trailer and the lack of confirmation from all parties involved, it seems like Brown was never officially cast in Eternals, meaning she doesn’t have any kind of role in the upcoming film.

Considering the lack of confirmed reports, it seems strange how the rumors lasted years leading up to the release of Eternals. Though the MCU has been known to keep certain roles or cameos a secret when the plot requires, involvement from Brown would be interpreted as a selling point for the movie based on her growing popularity. So it makes no sense to keep the truth hidden if she truly is a member of the cast. Whether it’s the public’s failure to believe Brown’s denial in the hopes of a role or the continuous fabricated reports, Brown’s name will probably be linked to an Eternals role until the released movie proves otherwise.

It also doesn’t help that a Google search for the movie’s cast instantly brings up Brown’s name among confirmed names like Angelina Jolie, Gemma Chan, Kit Harington, and Richard Madden. It looks as though the long-term rumors have even fooled Google into believing the actress is in the movie. It’s possible Brown auditioned for an Eternals role, specifically, the youngest Eternal, Sprite, which went to Lia McHugh. Either way, Brown is still in the early stages of her acting career, and she has plenty of time for an MCU casting seeing as the franchise is showing no signs of slowing down.
