Jacob Batalon Recalls How Nervous He Was His First Time On SpiderMan Set

Jacob Batalon, who stars as Peter Parker’s best friend Ned in the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home, has shared how nervous he was when he started on his first Spider-Man film. After appearing in Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home, Batalan will help Peter Parker battle against old enemies. Spider-Man No Way Home comes highly anticipated, having smashed pre-sales records, and will release in theaters later this week.

Spider-Man: No Way Home had its world premiere on December 13th, and so far critics have been impressed. The film has kicked off with a 100% score on review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, with the chemistry between the film’s three leads: Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Batalon coming in for particular praise. Despite the film’s generally positive reception, some critics questioned whether or not Spider-Man: No Way Home was helped or hindered by its complex plot, centering around the ‘multiverse’ concept. That has allowed the film’s writers to bring in villains from previous iterations of Spider-Man, with Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock, Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin, and Jamie Foxx’s Electro, all among the baddies who are making a return. The reappearance of previous film’s villains has led to intense speculation that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will also be returning to appear in the film, however all involved have been keen to deny the rumors.

Now, in a video clip shared by Variety, Batalon has responded to a question which asked him to share his memories from working on Spider-Man: Homecoming. The actor reflected on his nervousness when appearing on set for the first time, saying “I remember being very nervous,”. The actor caveated his nervousness though, stating that the experience was still “amazing,”. Check out Batalon’s full comments below:

“I remember being very nervous and I was wearing goggles that steamed up every time I would start to sweat and that made me even more nervous. But it was amazing.”

Batalon’s comments show fans just how far the actors, and the series as a whole, has come since Holland’s first solo film back in 2017. Fans will be able to relate to Batalon’s nervousness, and joining a mega-franchise like the MCU as a young actor would clearly be a daunting experience. Audiences will be glad that Batalon is now assured and comfortable in the series, as he has become one of the recent Spider-Man films’ stand-out characters.

Ned’s fate at the end of the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home has been a subject of speculation among viewers, who have wondered whether or not he survives the film. Fans of Ned, and Batalon, will be hoping that the character manages to stick around, as it was recently confirmed that Holland would be returning for another three Spider-Man movies. Audiences will have to wait until the film premieres in theaters to find out, while trying to avoid the inevitable spoilers along the way.
