Daniel Craig’s widely adored Bond movies continued this tradition, taking audiences to such exotic locales as Madagascar, the Bahamas, and Jamaica. Craig’s 007 earned his license to kill and 00 status in Prague and died in a nuclear blast on an abandoned island between Japan and Russia.

18 Czech Republic

The gritty black-and-white opening scene of Casino Royale takes place in Prague, where Bond assassinates traitorous section chief Dryden at the British Embassy to earn his license to kill and a spot in the 00 line-up. 14 Montenegro

In order to make back the money that his clients lost, Casino Royale’s villain Le Chiffre puts together a high-stakes Texas hold ‘em tournament at the eponymous Casino Royale in Montenegro. MI6 gets Bond a spot in this tournament so he can beat Le Chiffre at poker, in the hopes that such a loss would lead the diabolical villain to seek refuge with the British government.

13 Italy

Craig’s Bond spent a ton of time in Italy. Casino Royale’s shocking finale takes place in Venice, as a building sinks into the Grand Canal. At the end of the movie, Bond returns to work at MI6 when he finds Mr. White in Vesper’s phone and locates him at an estate in Lake Como.

Directly following on from this, Quantum of Solace opens with Bond driving to Siena with Mr. White in the trunk of his car. The pre-title sequence in No Time to Die takes place in Matera, where Bond visits Vesper’s grave and is unexpectedly attacked by Spectre assassins. Craig’s Bond couldn’t get enough of Italy.

12 Haiti

The central investigation in Quantum of Solace kicks off when Bond and M follow a perp named Edmund Slate to Haiti. There, Bond learns that Slate is a hitman hired by Dominic Greene, which draws him into the primary villain’s oil-based plot.

11 Austria

When Bond first learns about the villainous Greene, he tracks him down at a performance of Tosca in Bregenz, Austria. The Austria connection comes full circle in Spectre when Bond finds a dying Mr. White in Altaussee and promises to protect his daughter.

10 Bolivia

After following Greene to Austria, Bond follows him to Bolivia (the plot of Quantum of Solace gets a little repetitive) and runs into trouble with Bolivian police. This is where Bolivian General Medrano, the secondary villain, comes into the mix. The movie culminates in a spectacular finale set in the Atacama Desert.

There’s a crucial Russia-set scene in Quantum of Solace that calls back to Bond’s heartache from Casino Royale. In Kazan, Russia, 007 meets Vesper Lynd’s former lover, Yusef Kabira, a member of Quantum who turns out to be indirectly responsible for her death.

8 Turkey

The cold opens of Bond movies are usually standalone action scenes unrelated to the main plot, but Skyfall’s shocking opening scene sets up Bond’s emotional arc for the movie with a near-death experience.

This opening is set in Istanbul, the largest city in Turkey, and features a wide variety of cinematic action: a car chase, a rooftop motorcycle chase, a fight on the roof of a moving train, and eventually a plummet from a bridge into the river down below.

7 China

As Bond’s primary mission kicks off in the middle act of Skyfall, he travels to China to fight an assassin in a stunning silhouetted sequence in Shanghai. A clue from the fight scene leads him to a casino in Macau, where he feeds a henchman to a komodo dragon.

6 Scotland

While the Bond movies’ finales typically stage epic battles in the hidden lair of the villain, Skyfall’s finale is a Straw Dogs-esque home invasion as Silva and his men attack Bond’s childhood home in the Scottish Highlands. Albert Finney has a great one-liner during the shootout: “Welcome to Scotland.”

5 Mexico

The opening of Skyfall created some pretty high expectations for the opening scene of Sam Mendes’ follow-up Bond movie, Spectre. The cold open of Spectre is suitably large-scale and spectacular, as it sees Bond dodging a falling building and hijacking a helicopter during Mexico City’s Day of the Dead celebrations.

4 Morocco

Madeleine takes Bond to L’Américain, a hotel in Tangier, when they’re looking for Blofeld’s headquarters in Spectre. At the hotel, they find evidence left by Mr. White leading them to a secret base inside a crater in the Sahara Desert.

3 Jamaica

At the end of No Time to Die’s pre-title sequence, Bond assumes that Madeleine has betrayed him to Spectre and puts her on a train to cut her out of his life. Over the opening credits, there’s a five-year time jump that catches up with Bond happily retired at a villa in Jamaica.

2 Cuba

Bond travels to Cuba and teams up with Ana de Armas’ Paloma – one of the most beloved and underserved supporting characters from the Craig movies – to infiltrate Blofeld’s birthday party in the middle act of No Time to Die. This is one of the movie’s most thrilling action sequences, with Bond, Paloma, and Nomi all in top form.

1 Norway

Since the finale of No Time to Die takes place on a remote island between Japan and Russia, the last country that Craig’s Bond visited was Norway. He goes to Madeleine’s childhood home, featured in the snowbound prologue, and meets his five-year-old daughter Mathilde. As they flee from the house, Bond has to fend off a private army sent by Safin.
