Japans Attack On Titan Theme Park Is Giant Fun

Universal Studio Japan’s Attack On Titan theme park is giant fun for fans of the franchise. Attack On Titan began as a manga in 2009 and was created by Hajime Isayama. The story takes place in a world that has been decimated by giant, flesh-eating creatures dubbed Titans. Mankind has retreated within walled cities, but after a long period of peace, the giants return. They breach the outer wall and it’s up to the survivors to fight back and save the city, whilst discovering where the creatures actually came from.

The Attack On Titan anime debuted in 2013 and became an insane cult hit worldwide. The anime’s fast-paced action, beautiful animation, great characters, and elaborate world building all combined to make it a success. Like the manga, Attack On Titan is also loaded with shocking deaths and plot twists. The popularity of the series led to a two-part movie in Japan in 2015, which received mixed reviews for the changes made to the source material. Andy Muschietti (IT) is currently attached to direct an English language live-action adaptation.

The Attack On Titan anime recently returned for the second half of its third season. Any fans of the series might want to consider a visit to the Attack On Titan theme park at Universal Studios in Japan. The first Attack On Titan attraction arrived in 2015, and the 2019 version of Attack On Titan: The Real is an immersive, 4D ride based on the scouts season 3 effort to seal Wall Maria.

Attack On Titan: The Real has been praised by fans for making them feel like they’re part of the battle itself, which combines live-action performers with atmospheric effects, and animation that plays out on a fittingly giant 50m screen. It’s a family friendly attraction too and lacks the bloodshed and gore seen on the show. There’s also assorted merch from the franchise for sale at the theme park and there are numerous Titan statues dotted around for fans to take photos and selfies with.

Universal Studios Japan also features a Godzilla vs. Evangelion: The Real 4-D experience too. In addition to the logic of Japan’s most popular kaiju and most popular mecha facing off, the crossover makes sense since Neon Genesis Evangelion and 2016’s Shin Godzilla were both created by Hideaki Anno. Attack On Titan: The Real runs until August 25, 2019, and is about as close to real giant slaying as fans would ever like to get.
