Jordan Peeles Nope Movie Wraps Filming

Acclaimed horror director and Oscar winner, Jordan Peele, has officially wrapped filming for his upcoming third directorial venture, Nope. The movie will reunite the filmmaker with Oscar-winning actor Daniel Kaluuya and mark their first collaboration since 2017’s Get Out, for which Peele won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. Kaluuya will be joined by a cast that includes The Walking Dead alumni, Steven Yeun, Keke Palmer (Hustlers), Barbie Ferrera (Euphoria), Brandon Perea (The OA), and Michael Wincott. Nope will be distributed by Universal Pictures and is scheduled to release on July 22, 2022.

Variety recently confirmed that Peele’s upcoming horror-thriller has wrapped production. It was also announced that frequent Christopher Nolan collaborator, Hoyte van Hoytema, will act as the director of photography for the film. The Dutch-Swedish cinematographer’s previous credits include Nolan’s Interstellar, Dunkirk and Tenet, and other big-budget projects like 2015’s James Bond feature, Spectre, and 2019’s Brad Pitt-starrer, Ad Astra.

Peele has kept himself busy for the past few years as a producer for TV series like Lovecraft Country, Hunters, and the revival of The Twilight Zone. He also co-wrote and produced the recent horror film, Candyman. Nope will see the American director return to the helm for the third time since his sophomore directorial effort, 2019’s Us, which was also very well-received. The synopsis for the film remains a mystery as of now. However, Universal dropped an official poster earlier this year on July 22, exactly a year before the release date, which has unsurprisingly had fans buzzing with excitement and theorizing about the plot of the film.
