In many ways, Yuji Itadori is the average high school student. The main protagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen has favorite hobbies and foods and enjoys many of the same activities as other students his age.

Fans of the series are certain to know that Yuji is a powerful jujutsu sorcerer, but there are a number of things that many fans don’t know about him as well. These less well-known aspects of Yuji’s life, personality, and abilities are important to understand more about his character and what lies in store for everyone’s favorite sorcerer at Tokyo Jujutsu High.

10 He Can Run Faster Than Olympic Level Athletes

Many fans are aware that Yuji is incredibly strong. In the first episode, he throws a shot put more than 30 meters, easily breaking the world record and before he even has access to cursed energy.

However, few fans realize that Yuji is not only strong but also superhumanly fast. He can run 50 meters within 3 seconds, which equates to a speed of over 37 miles per hour. His time is more than 2 seconds under the current 50-meter world record of 5.56 seconds, which was set by sprinter Donovan bailey in 1996. This otherworldly speed allows him to evade even unnaturally quick attacks, such as Eso’s Wing King Technique and Hanami’s cursed energy-infused plants.

7 His Favorite Hobbies Include Watching TV And Doing Impersonations

Like many kids his age, Yuji likes to kick back and have fun. The life of a jujutsu sorcerer is no laughing matter, but he still manages to maintain a sense of humor despite having to face life and death situations on a day-to-day basis.

Among his favorite hobbies, Yuji especially enjoys watching films and doing impersonations. He demonstrates both when he does an impression of Tom Hanks in Cast Away while eating dinner with Junpei and his mother. Yuji and Junpei bond over their love of films, and although Yuji is not able to save Junpei, fans can hope that he will not also lose his sense of fun and humor.

6 There Is No Food He Doesn’t Like

Over the course of the series, it becomes apparent that Yuji is not a picky eater. There are no foods that he doesn’t like, but there are a few that he especially enjoys.

Before meeting Nobara, Yuji is seen eating both popcorn and a crepe filled with cream and berries. After completing their mission in Roppongi, Satoru offers to take the first-years out to dinner, and Yuji states that he would like to eat steak. When Nobara insists that they should instead eat sushi, Yuji recommends a sushi restaurant called Splendid Sushi that delivers the sushi to customers on a bullet train. Of course, he and Nobara proceed to fantasize about revolving sushi and share a daydream of speeding off to eat sushi together.

5 He Is A Quick Learner But Is Bad At Science

Despite Nobara’s assertion that Yuji looks like a “kid that ate his own boogers,” Yuji is actually quite intelligent. He quickly learns how to channel his cursed energy, and manages to learn how to use Black Flash in a single afternoon under the tutelage of Aoi.

While Yuji is smarter than many of his friends and fans give him credit for, he is not very good at science. He failed molecular science at his previous school, and science conversations are known to cause him stress. When Satoru first explains the difference between cursed energy and cursed techniques to Yuji he becomes visibly confused, and even after a demonstration he acts more stressed than excited.

4 He Can Be Indecisive

Yuji is a very passionate individual who is both kind and sincere. As seen during the events at the juvenile detention center, he is willing to endanger his own life to protect his friends, and he is motivated to make sure that people have the chance to die a good death free from needless suffering.

However, while he can be impulsive in combat and when his emotions get the best of him, Yuji can also be rather indecisive. According to the creator of the series, Gege Akutami, Yuji isn’t really a hoodie guy, but he wears them because he can be indecisive. Even Yuji’s Divergent Fist Technique provides a clue as to his indecisive nature, as the technique’s delayed reaction speaks to Yuji’s hesitancy.

Yuji is very laid back, and while he is a little rough around the edges, he seems to float effortlessly through life. He takes everything in stride, from the death of his grandfather to almost dying on numerous occasions, and this attitude grants him an undeniable air of cool.

Therefore, it comes as no surprise that Akutami has identified Yuji’s theme music as “Heart ni Hi wo Tsukete” by 9mm Parabellum Bullet and “Itsuka Dokoka De” by Kuchiroro. “Heart ni Hi wo Tsukete,” is a blood-pumping rock anthem, while “Itsuka Dokoka De” is a groovy instrumental piece with elements of ska and jazz. Together, the two tracks perfectly sum up Yuji’s chill yet passionate style.

2 His Birthday Is March 20th And He Is A Pisces

Jujutsu Kaisen is set in the year 2018, and while this information on its own is not that important it does reveal more about the birth years of the main characters. Yuji is 15 years old at the start of the show, and his birthday is March 20th, which means that he was born in the year 2003. This means his sign in the Chinese Zodiac is the sheep, which makes sense given his gentle and amicable nature.
