Jurassic World 3 Set Photos Reveal Downed Plane In Arctic Landscape

Set photos from Jurassic World: Dominion show a plane crash in an Arctic landscape. After the blockbuster success of Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, the dinosaur franchise will continue with Jurassic World: Dominion from director Colin Trevorrow, starring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard.

Of course, Trevorrow was the man who helmed the first Jurassic World, launching a new and wildly successful stage in the franchise. What exactly Trevorrow has in store for fans in the third Jurassic World movie is still largely a mystery, but a few possible secrets have leaked out recently, including the (unconfirmed) news that returning Jurassic Park actors Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum have much bigger parts than originally anticipated. The movie is also set to bring back the character Lewis Dodgson, a forgotten villain from the original trilogy of movies.

And another plot detail seems to have been revealed now thanks to leaked set photos posted by UK tabloid The Sun. The images, shot from high over Pinewood Studios, show a large set featuring an Arctic landscape and crashed plane – further confirmation that the third Jurassic World movie is set to feature snowy dinosaur action. Of course, it’s rather big news that production on Jurassic World: Dominion is taking place at all after the film was delayed due to coronavirus. In fact, a recent report said several of the movie’s crew members had actually tested positive for COVID on the first day of resumed filming, raising the possibility of another shut down for the massive production. However, Universal denied the positive tests and said everything is still moving forward.

Obviously, an Arctic setting represents a big switch for the Jurassic Park/World series, which has largely remained stuck in jungle settings. Of course, the last film Fallen Kingdom did move out of the familiar jungle park and into a mansion, and the movie’s ending indeed teased that the dinosaurs were now loose in the world and capable of showing up anywhere. How exactly they make their way all the way to the Arctic is anyone’s guess, but the movie no doubt will have some fun explaining such dinosaur migration patterns.

There’s no question that, after years of watching humans being chased by dinosaurs through the confines of a tropical park, seeing some chases across the icy wastes of the Arctic would be a refreshing change for the series. And changing things up was seemingly always the plan for the third movie after the way things developed in the second. Ultimately, Jurassic World: Dominion has some pretty big shoes to fill after the massive success of the last two movies, and indications are that Trevorrow and company are pulling out all the stops to assure the third movie in the series indeed tops the others.
