Colin Trevorrow, director of the upcoming Jurassic World: Dominion, has praised the newly-released Jurassic World Evolution 2 game on Twitter, sharing some of the features of the new release alongside its trailer. Jurassic World Evolution 2 released today, November 9, following its announcement earlier this summer by Jurassic Park alum Jeff Goldblum.

Jurassic World Evolution 2 is the latest Jurassic Park release from Frontier Developments, and serves as a sequel to 2018’s popular dinosaur park-building management sim, Jurassic World Evolution. In the new game, players work alongside some of the characters seen across the Jurassic World movie franchise, including Dr. Ian Malcolm (voiced by Jeff Goldblum) and Claire Dearing (voiced by Bryce Dallas Howard), as they shape the perfect park to appeal to both tourists and their dinosaur captives. The game promises deeper management systems and tools than its predecessor, with new what-if story scenarios, and four different gameplay modes including Campaign and Sandbox. Jurassic World Evolution 2 expands its roster of dinosaurs with 75 different prehistoric species.

Celebrating the release of Jurassic World Evolution 2 on Twitter, Colin Trevorrow, director of both the Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Dominion movies shared his thoughts on Jurassic World Evolution 2, praising the game’s visuals and features. Trevorrow posted the game’s pre-order trailer in a tweet, stating that as a parent he is “grateful” to the game developers for “putting science and paleontology first,” adding that the game’s dinosaurs “look dope AF.”

As a parent, grateful to the makers of #JurassicWorldEvolution2 for putting science and paleontology first. Also the dinosaurs look dope AF, you can do battle in the Grand Canyon and we have a Mosasaurus now. pic.twitter.com/LhS9BWc4ap

The director also mentioned one of the new dinosaurs available in Jurassic World Evolution 2, the Mosasaurus. This is a dinosaur the creator is already very familiar with thanks to its appearance in a number of Jurassic movies, including Jurassic World, but the dino didn’t appear in the Jurassic World Evolution game. Expanding on the roster of prehistoric creatures seen in its predecessor, the game’s sequel introduces marine lizards like the Mosasaurus, as well as highly-requested flying reptiles.

Many fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of Jurassic World Evolution 2, but despite high praise from the Jurassic movie director, early reactions to the game are mixed. While many players are enjoying the improved graphics and new gameplay options, other Jurassic Park fans have criticized its price point, believing it should instead have been sold as DLC for the original game. Some Steam reviewers have also complained of bugs and glitches. With the title being a brand-new release, it’s likely these will be patched out in time.
