Justice League’s Cyborg Has an XBOX Inside His Body
While working with Shazam in the Justice League’s Watchtower, Cyborg reveals his Apokoliptian body isn’t just for weapons – but for gaming, too.

DC’s cybernetically enhanced superhero Cyborg is known for constantly upgrading his body, especially after he joins the Justice League and learns the truth regarding his Apokoliptian origins. Generally, the upgrades are used to aid him on his missions to defeat vicious super villains… but Victor Stone also bears an upgrade that is used for recreational purposes.
It’s old news that Cyborg longs for a normal life, and to get his human body back. It’s also impossible to lead a normal life when one fights with the Justice League superheroes like Green Lantern, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman to defeat super villains like Darkseid and the beasts of Hell. But amidst fighting super villains that have the power to change reality, being cybernetically enhanced, and possessing the ability to interface, writer Geoff Johns and artist Doug Mahnke remind readers that beneath the metal and artificial body parts, Vic is still a teenager at heart. Which means he uses his cybernetic body to have some fun every once in a while.
In Justice League Vol. 6: Injustice League Shazam and Cyborg wait for an energy signature from Power Ring’s Ring to appear on the monitors in Lex Luthor’s new Watchtower. Rather than trying to think of a way he can help Cyborg, Shazam’s boredom persists, and his next question is, admittedly, a good one: does the League keep an Xbox on the Watchtower? Now, Cyborg is an expert at containing his composure and maintaining his focus, but after Shazam asks the question he quickly caves, smiles, and says he has one hidden in his left shoulder. Obviously, Cyborg’s cybernetic enhancement as well as his ability to interface are useful in more ways than one can imagine!
After Cyborg tells Shazam he has an Xbox in his left shoulder, Shazam suggests that the two play, but Cyborg reminds Shazam that they need to focus their attention on the monitors and keep an eye out for any energy signatures. Then, Cyborg recalls Shazam’s possession of magic and asks if he can be of any help. At first, Shazam overtly emphasizes his lack of knowledge regarding his capabilities, but then he tries to help and yells, “ALA-KA-ZAM!” Lightning strikes and instead of spawning something useful, he spawns what DC’s Justice League really needs.
DC is littered with cool comic book Cyborgs and each one offers the superhero a new look, but it’s cool knowing one of the most serious superheroes still loves to treat himself to an Xbox game every once in a while. Sadly, the comic doesn’t offer any more information on the cybernetcially enhanced gamer. Instead, it leaves readers wondering, how does he play? Does he have the console in his left shoulder and a controller in his right? What games does he play? Maybe the answer to those questions will become apparent in a later comic.
