Daniel Day-Lewis won an Oscar for his portrayal of Brown. Fiona Shaw co-stars as Brown’s caretaker as an adult. Shaw’s character Eileen Cole helps Brown gain recognition for his paintings. As Brown and Cole grow closer, Brown’s feelings for Cole intensify. Instead of simplifying Brown’s life story, My Left Foot digs into both the good and the bad.

6 Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004): 7.9

Fiona Shaw plays Harry’s evil Aunt Petunia Dursley in the Harry Potter movies. Petunia is the sister of Harry’s biological mother Lily, who becomes the infant boy’s caregiver after his parents are murdered.

Amanda Root plays the protagonist Anne Elliot, who reconnects with Ciarán Hinds’s character Captain Frederick Wentworth eight years after she said no to marrying him. Fiona Shaw plays Mrs. Croft, the sister of Captain Wentworth and wife of Admiral Croft.

4 Killing Eve (2018 – ): 8.3

Fans of Killing Eve likely recognized Fiona Shaw off the bat as Carolyn Martens, head of Russian intelligence at MI6. After Sandra Oh’s character and MI5 spy Eve Polastri crosses paths with Jodie Comer’s assassin Villanelle, Martens recruits Eve to join MI6.

Fiona Shaw stars in an episode from the third series, entitled “Private View.” In this episode, a group of people shows up to a private art exhibition, but none of them know why they’ve been invited. Shaw plays Jean, a member of the group.

2 Out of Innocence (2016): 8.5

Even though it’s more of a cameo than a recurring role, Fiona Shaw’s performance in Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s hit British comedy Fleabag is too good not to include on this list. In the second season of the series, after Fleabag realizes she has feelings for The Priest, she goes to a counseling session to sort everything out.
