10 Riko Aida Is The Perfect Coach

In addition to being the coach of the Seirin boy’s basketball team, Riko is also one of the most likable characters in the series. She is the perfect supporting character, as her strength lies in her ability to bring out the best qualities of every player, which actively makes the other characters around her better.

Riko is not afraid to push her team members to their limits and often threatens to double their training schedule. Though she can be harsh at times, she is the brains of the team, and her determination and tactical acumen make the team better.

9 Junpei Hyuga Is A Clutch Scorer

At first, Junpei’s brash and rude personality tends to rub fans the wrong way. As the captain of the Seirin basketball team, he can be hard on the other members of the team and is very intense when he is mad.

However, despite his overbearing personality, Junpei is a dedicated leader and player. He frequently fires up his teammates when their spirits are low, such as during the team’s opening match at the Winter Cup. His clutch shooting comes in handy in the opening round, as his Barrier Jumper ability keeps the team in the game after Kagami and Tetsuya struggle to get going.

His selflessness and maturity are visible in the match against Kirisaki Daiichi, when he fights through hard fouls to grab rebounds and score, all while refusing to give in to Hanamiya’s taunts. No matter the cost to his own well-being, Kiyoshi protects his teammates from harm and keeps their spirits high.

6 Aomine Daiki Is A Great Rival

Aomine Daiki is the main antagonist of the series up until the first round of the Winter Cup, and he plays his role perfectly. His selfish style of basketball makes him a perfect foil to Tetsuya’s team-focused approach. Additionally, through his rivalry with Kagami, he helps to unlock the Seirin player’s dormant potential.

For most of the series, Aomine is depicted as arrogant and lazy, as he does not believe that he will ever find someone who can challenge him. However, despite his penchant for humiliating players with his skill, he is also very protective of his former middle-school teammates, particularly Tetsuya. He refuses to let his current teammates badmouth Tetsuya, and he confronts Shogo Haizaki to stop him from attacking Kise after their match at the Winter Cup.

5 Shintaro Midorima Is Hilarious And Efficient

The former shooter for the Generation of Miracles, Shintaro is one of Seirin’s toughest opponents, as his shooting ability makes him impossible to guard. Although he is initially arrogant and selfish, by the end of the series, fans can’t help but root for Shintaro, as he grows to trust his teammates on the Shutoku basketball team.

Despite his reserved and quiet nature, Shintaro is one of the funniest characters on the court. In addition to being very sarcastic and blunt, he is also very superstitious. He checks his horoscope daily, is never without a lucky charm, and asks other players about their blood type to see if theirs is compatible with his.

4 Ryota Kise Is Charming And Talented

Aside from Tetsuya, Ryota is the most cheerful member of the Generation of Miracles. He is very dramatic and has an adorable habit of adding the suffix -cchi to the names of people he respects.

Ryota initially appears carefree, but when it comes to basketball he is a fierce competitor. He is one of the first members of the Generation of Miracles who is impacted by Tetsuya’s style of play, as he became much more of a team player after losing to Seirin high. His Copy ability is one of the strongest skills in the series and gives him an unending arsenal of skills that make him one of the most entertaining players on the court.

Beneath Seijuro’s cool exterior is a second, hidden personality, one that is willing to do whatever it takes to win, no matter the cost. In the finals match against Seirin, after Seijuro’s Emperor Eye is defeated by Seirin’s teamwork, he toys with the thought of losing the match, but his winner’s spirit takes over. This prompts him to once again assert his influence on the court and through his effort he pushes his entire team to enter the Zone.

2 Taiga Kagami Is Seirin’s Ace

Although Taiga’s talent is sufficient to put him on par with the Generation of Miracles, he is not haunted by the doubts and insecurities that plague them after middle school. On the contrary, he enjoys basketball because he is ambitious and loves the challenge of proving that he is the strongest player on the court.

While Taiga hates losing, over the course of the series he learns from his losses and becomes a more mature character. After his crushing loss to Aomine in the Interhigh Final League, he becomes more cunning and places more faith in his teammates rather than in just his own power. Taiga is the muscle on the Seirin basketball team, and it’s thanks to his passion and monster dunks that Seirin is counted among the best teams in Japan.

1 Tetsuya Kuroko Is The Ultimate Teammate

The protagonist and title character of the series, Tetsuya is the soul of Seirin’s basketball team. From his Ignite Passes to his Misdirection ability, Tetsuya plays beautiful, team-friendly basketball, all while hardly ever scoring a point.

Unlike the other members of the Generation of Miracles, Tetsuya is not blessed with basketball skills. However, he is extremely hard-working and has great respect for his teammates. Tetsuya elevates all of his teammates, particularly Taiga, who acts as Tetsuya’s “light,” allowing Tetsuya to work his basketball magic from the shadows. Kuroko’s Basketball is nothing without Tetsuya, who proves that you don’t have to be strong, fast, or even noticeable to be a great teammate.
