The cast of Law & Order: Organized Crime is growing, with Tamara Taylor the latest to join the Law & Order spinoff series. The long-running franchise has been growing by leaps and bounds in recent years, with multiple new series in development. Organized Crime is a promising new series, but one that has also faced numerous roadblocks since being announced in March 2020.

The spin-off will be led by Christopher Meloni, who is returning to the franchise that solidified his career after he left Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in 2011. The show was expected to be a new entry into NBC’s fall lineup for the 2020-21 television series, but it was pushed back to a later date. The series has already fired a writer and seen a showrunner step down, with Ilene Chaiken now in the latter role. Momentum for the series finally seems to be building in recent days, however, with Dylan McDermott announced as a cast member less than a week ago.

The latest cast member to be revealed is veteran actress Tamara Taylor, which was first revealed by Deadline. She is set to star in a leading role opposite McDermott and Meloni. As is the case with McDermott’s character, Taylor’s character hasn’t been revealed, although it wouldn’t be surprising to learn if she’s part of a task force Elliott Stabler is leading in the new series. Taylor took to Twitter after the report to celebrate her casting. See Taylor’s tweet below:

Taylor is best known for her role as Dr. Camille Saroyan on Bones, a role she occupied for more than 200 episodes of Fox’s long-running crime procedural. She has also appeared in Netflix shows such as Altered Carbon and October Faction. Most recently, she appeared as an antagonist, Sibyl, in the final season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. As of now, Taylor joins McDermott and Meloni as the only known cast members of Organized Crime, with more sure to come.

While production problems and the coronavirus stalled Organized Crime, it appears the spinoff is starting to get back on track. Meloni will be returning to SVU in addition to the new spinoff, with a reunion between Stabler and Olivia Benson likely serving as a good point of entry for the new series. Tamara Taylor has already appeared on a show with more than 200 episodes and SVU is nearing the 500-episode mark. With any luck, Law & Order: Organized Crime will see similar long-term success for Taylor.
