With the holiday season officially in full gear, it’s time to relax and enjoy Christmas movies during every free hour of the day. While there has never been a shortage of holiday movies out there to watch during the holiday season, there does seem to be a lack of spirited movies for teenagers.

From a Christmas take on the beloved Cinderella story to a movie centered around a group of kids from divorced families who must travel for the holidays, the teen Christmas genre has a little something for everyone.

10 A Cinderella Story: Christmas Wish (2019) – 5.3

There have been tons of Cinderella movies but none of them have centered the action during the Christmas holiday until 2019 when A Cinderella Story: Christmas Wish was released. The film stars Laura Marano as Kat Decker, an aspiring singer who can’t chase her dreams because of her stepmother and scheming step-sisters. Not even they can get in the way of her dreams though when she gets Dominic Wintergarden (Gregg Sulkin) to fall for her.

A Cinderella Story: Christmas Wish manages to do the impossible combing all the best Christmas tropes with everything needed to create a true Cinderella-inspired story.

9 Unaccompanied Minors (2006) – 5.3

Released in 2006, Unaccompanied Minors follows a group of teenagers who get stranded at an airport on Christmas Eve. Determined to have some sort of fun, the kids turn the airport into their own personal playground. That is until the uptight airport manager gets involved and puts a stop to all the chaos.

The film was based on a true story that was originally broadcast on the public radio before being turned into a movie. Unaccompanied Minors is the perfect teen Christmas movie to watch when looking for something with a lot of chaos and fun.

8 ‘Twas The Night (2001) – 5.4

Disney Channel Original Movies are always some of the best for teens; the same is true for Christmas inspired DCOMs. ‘Twas the Night follows Danny Wrigley, a young teenager, and his irresponsible uncle Nick Wrigley (Bryan Cranston) as they steal Santa’s sleigh threatening to delay Christmas.

While ‘Twas the Night is often underrated when it comes to Disney Channel Original Movies it’s a true Christmas classic and can get even the moodiest teens into the Christmas spirit.

7 I’ll Be Home For Christmas (1998) – 5.5

Released in 1998, I’ll Be Home For Christmas stars Jonathan Taylor Thomas as Jake, a college student who is promised a new Porsche for Christmas if he comes home for the holidays. Jake agrees but getting home proves difficult when he gets left in the desert with no money, ID, or phone.

While I’ll Be Home For Christmas might be considered a Christmas classic for teenagers, the film is often overlooked. It also didn’t perform well at the box office and failed to turn a profit during its initial release making it a box office flop.

6 The Knight Before Christmas (2019) – 5.5

Vanessa Hudgens has certainly become the Princess of Christmas when it comes to Netflix Christmas movies. In this one, she plays Brooke, a high school science teacher who catches the eye of Sir Cole, a medieval knight who has somehow found his way into the present day.

While The Knight Before Christmas might not center on teenagers, teens will love the cheesy love story this movie tells. It’s the perfect watch for fans of rom-coms.

5 Let It Snow (2019) – 5.8

Let It Snow is the perfect teen Christmas movie for fans of adolescent romantic comedies. Based on the novel co-written by Maureen Johnson, John Green, and Lauren Myracle, the Netflix original follows an ensemble cast of teenagers on their various Christmas Eve Adventures.

Let It Snow has it all. From a young lesbian in love hasn’t come out yet to a pop star falling for a small-town girl in the span of 12 hours, there’s a rom-com trope for everyone.

4 The Ultimate Christmas Present (2000) – 5.9

The Ultimate Christmas Present is another Disney Channel Original Movie to center around the holiday season. After Sam (Brenda Song) and Allie (Halle Hirsh) find a weather machine in the woods, they decide to use it to create a snowstorm in Los Angeles so that they don’t have to go to school. However, things take a turn when the snowstorm begins to spread and the only person who can control it is Santa Claus.

The Ultimate Christmas Present is another forgotten DCOM that deserves its time to shine, especially during the holiday season.

3 The Princess Switch (2018) – 6.0

While Vanessa Hudgens might not play a teenager character in The Princess Switch she does get to play two characters in this Netflix original Christmas film. When Olivia Richards travels to Belgravia she thinks she’s just there to compete in a baking competition but she ends up switching places with Lady Margaret Delacourt, Duchess of Montenaro.

The Princess Switch is highly regarded as one of Netflix’s best original Christmas movies. It even earned a sequel which premiered on the streaming service in 2020.

2 Noelle (2019) – 6.3

When Disney+ started streaming in 2019, it began with an original Christmas movie of its own. Noelle stars Anna Kendrick as Noelle Kringle, the daughter of Santa, who must track down her brother (Bill Hader) after he cracks under the pressure of having to become Santa and fleas the North Pole.

While on her mission to find her brother, Noelle begins to discover that she has all the powers her late father possessed leading her to wonder if she should be the one to take over his job as Santa.

1 Good Luck Charlie, It’s Christmas (2011) – 6.9

Good Luck Charlie is not only an iconic Disney Channel original series but it also gave fans an iconic DCOM: Good Luck Charlie, It’s Christmas. The Christmas film follows the Duncans as they plan to visit their grandparents for Christmas. Things take a turn when Teddy and Amy get stranded at the airport and must figure out a new way to get to Teddy’s grandparents in time for Christmas.

Good Luck Charlie, It’s Christmas marked the first-ever Christmas DCOM in over ten years.
