Looney Tunes Deserves Its Own Kingdom HeartsStyle Game

Kingdom Hearts is one of the most popular Disney video game series of all time, in large part because it allows players to step into fantasy worlds they are already familiar with. While the Looney Tunes franchise has put out several games, none of them have achieved the level of critical acclaim that Disney has with every new release of Kingdom Hearts – nothing even comes close.

Characters like Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and Elmer Fudd have been around for nearly a century, and the time has come for fans to be given an immersive RPG experience. Game developers don’t even have to spend too much time crafting a completely new story arc, as there already exists villains who wish to destroy “Looney Tune Land” that can be reused (or at the very least, given a slight twist). A Looney Tunes game could use the aliens from Space Jam, or bring back Christopher Lloyd’s terrifying character from Who Framed Roger Rabbit?.

To date there already exist dozens upon dozens of games based on Looney Tunes characters, but none of them come close to Kingdom Hearts in terms of depth and the quality of overall gameplay. Several of these games, like Bugs & Taz: Timebusters and Bugs Bunny: Lost in Time, offer players the chance to take control of these beloved cartoons and roam about in an open world (albeit, a small one compared to today’s games) but Kingdom Hearts showed the world just how much more fans could get out of a game starring characters people of all ages love. Imagine being able to hang out with Bugs in his rabbit hole, or trying to race Speedy Gonzalez and Roadrunner. Think of all the scenarios where Taz the Tasmanian Devil could’ve helped take down a boss.

Looney Tunes Deserves The Attention

While fans may not want a copycat version of Kingdom Hearts, there’s no reason to think that a Looney Tunes-styled riff wouldn’t be a major commercial success. More importantly, fans would undoubtedly come up with some creative mods that would keep people playing over and over. Warner Bros. would also have the chance to release downloadable content for players every time they put out a new show or movie.

While nothing official has been announced, it is fairly likely these conversations are being had behind the scenes, because this is something Looney Tunes fans have been wanting for quite some time. Several developers have made their own Kingdom Hearts mods to include Bugs, and Daffy, and a host of others, which indicates that there is a desire for a game like this. Now, it’s just a matter of getting it done.

While there are no plans for a Kingdom Hearts-style Looney Tunes game right now, don’t be surprised if something like it is released in the near future. There’s no doubt that Warner Bros. will want to squeeze every dollar they can out of these characters once Space Jam: A New Legacy is released this summer.
