Netflix’s Lucifer has seen the titular character get into the action a lot more in recent years. Lucifer Morningstar took on the role of the new God in the show’s fifth season, but his powers seem to be the same. In the show’s history, the character has displayed enough of his abilities for it to be judged how he would fare against other fictional characters.
The Supernatural universe featured angels in abundance, with Dean and Sam Winchester having difficulties in facing these powerful beings. To this end, it’s fascinating to consider the match-ups between Lucifer Morningstar and Supernatural angels. All in all, he should best a few of them but won’t be able to take on the more powerful ones.
10 Can Beat: Castiel
Although Castiel was regarded as a Seraph, ranking higher than normal angels, he had the bad habit of relying too much on angel blades as opposed to his powers. Castiel was by no means the best in combat skill, having lost to regular humans a number of times.
Due to this, Lucifer will find it all too easy to take Castiel down, seeing as the former never loses hand-to-hand combat. In addition, Lucifer’s flying is much superior to Castiel’s, meaning he’ll have the advantage of aerial combat alongside his superior dueling skills.

Although technically a Nephilim, Jack’s species is born from an angel and he possessed angel wings in addition to having angel grace. Nephilims are more powerful than angels, and with Jack being the son of Supernatural’s Lucifer, he was superior to archangels as well.
Lucifer Morningstar doesn’t have the reality-altering abilities that Jack had in abundance, with the latter becoming so powerful by the show’s end that he was able to absorb God’s powers. Even before that, Jack had killed archangels with barely any effort, meaning Lucifer just doesn’t have the juice to contend with a being who doesn’t need to move an inch.
8 Can Beat: Joshua
Joshua was implied to be a special angel in Season 5 of Supernatural when he was the only one who spoke to God. He was also the angel who resurrected Sam and Dean, with it appearing as if he overruled Heaven’s orders by himself.
However, he was blown apart by just a touch of the Prince of Hell Dagon, proving Joshua wasn’t all that invulnerable. Lucifer, being the ruler of demons, wouldn’t have difficulties against Joshua either. When Lucifer’s tapped into his demonic powers, he’s been shown to have augmented abilities akin to Dagon’s, and Lucifer’s battle with Joshua would be pretty much the same.
7 Cannot Beat: Raphael
An archangel, Raphael was among the most powerful beings in the Supernatural universe. He didn’t need to resort to using close combat, not when Raphael easily used his white light powers to decimate his rivals in an instant.
Raphael would most likely be susceptible to Lucifer’s flaming sword, but it’s hard to see the latter ever coming near enough to actually use it against him. Raphael also displayed the ability to manipulate the weather and electrical surges, which would ensure that Lucifer would be kept at bay long enough for Raphael to end him with the white light.
6 Can Beat: Gadreel
Despite showing up after the angels had fallen from Heaven, Gadreel was still more able than others of his kind. He retained the angelic smiting ability, along with killing off demons in great numbers. However, Gadreel didn’t have wings anymore and this should be the deciding factor against Lucifer.
With the devil showing his incredible abilities with his wings in Lucifer’s fifth season finale, it’s clear that Gadreel would be hopeless against Lucifer’s speed. In this scenario, Lucifer would be able to bamboozle Gadreel with quick attacks and put him down with a combination of speed and super strength.
5 Cannot Beat: Gabriel
Lucifer Morningstar hasn’t shown any control over reality in his TV series, whereas changing reality is all Gabriel was about. He could snap his fingers and alter the world, with Sam Winchester having to outright beg Gabriel to place him out of the time loop he’d placed on him.
Gabriel was shown to use duplicates of himself to make it appear as if he was fighting, only to turn up somewhere else. Lucifer’s fighting skills wouldn’t do him any good against an opponent he won’t be able to place, and the real problem will be him being trapped by Gabriel in another reality.
4 Can Beat: Anna Milton
Anna was a higher-tier angel who was Castiel’s superior at one time and regained her powers by obliterating demons with just her visage. However, she was easily outmatched by the archangel Michael, with Anna not even able to make a move against him.
With Lucifer Morningstar also an archangel, he’ll have the advantage of invulnerability on his side against Anna. Lucifer’s speed would make it such that Anna wouldn’t be able to spring a surprise attack – which was her go-to strategy – and his superior strength would be too much for Anna to overcome.
3 Cannot Beat: Michael
As the strongest archangel in Supernatural, Michael was unmatched in power by other beings in the universe. In fact, it was God’s move of killing his own son that took Michael down in the end. Other than that, Michael had never lost in anything due to his vast capabilities.
Lucifer’s version of Michael is hardly on par with Supernatural’s, meaning Lucifer Morningstar wouldn’t know what to expect with Supernatural’s Michael. Lucifer’s best bet would be the flaming sword but even that doesn’t seem to be powerful enough to beat Michael. With the latter possessing the ability to blow angels up with just a snap of his fingers, Lucifer would be out of commission within seconds.
2 Can Beat: Balthazar
Balthazar has a lot in common with Lucifer villains, in that he was suave, cool, and debonair. He and Lucifer would’ve gotten along pretty well due to their mutual interests, although a situation where they would need to fight would be one-sided in Lucifer’s favor.
Balthazar’s strength was in his intellect, having always plotted to bring his opponents down. Against Lucifer, who was too powerful to be susceptible to Balthazar’s tricks, the latter wouldn’t have anything to challenge him. Lucifer’s speed would be enough for him to beat Balthazar, who was killed off by Castiel due to being too slow to counter his attack.

Comparisons between DC’s version of Lucifer and Netflix Lucifer have been common, with this also being the case with Supernatural’s Lucifer. All things considered, the latter should come out as the winner. This is chiefly due to Supernatural’s Lucifer being absolutely ruthless.
This version took pleasure in combusting angels for fun, along with using his powers to torment others through psychological means in addition to torture. Lucifer Morningstar is too restrained to go all-out and doesn’t have reality-bending powers like Supernatural’s Lucifer either, who had also killed off dozens of Pagan Gods like cannon fodder. In a match between the two Lucifer’s, Morningstar doesn’t pack a punch as his counterpart does.
